Although Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the United States, there are certainly many things one can do in order to pass time during the summer months!
1. Visit Newport.
Visiting Newport is one of my favorite things to do during the summer. Not only is it incredibly beautiful but it is also historic and fantastic for history lovers like myself. The shopping is also pretty awesome down there too, with tons of souvenirs shops and also department stores as well. So go down for the day grab a bite to eat and explore the wonderfulness that is Newport and maybe even take a ghost tour at night!
2. Take the Ferry to Block Island.
Although I have only been to the island once in my nineteen years of life, it left a truly incredible mark on me and I believe that i is one of the most fantastic things Rhode Island has to offer. If you are an ocean lover like myself than your trip to Block Island will begin to amaze you the minute you set sail. With incredibly beautiful beaches, tons of shopping, and exquisite food, Block Island is perfect for a day trip or perhaps even a small vacation if you want to take your time to explore every small bit the Island has to offer.
3.Go to Providence.
Rhode Island's capital city has it all... Art Museums, shopping, delicious food, and historical sights. Take the day to visit Thayer Street, go to the Providence Place Mall, walk around Brown University's campus, or visit RISD or the Rhode Island School of Design Art museum and then grab a bite to eat from one of the delicious Italian restaurants on Federal hill. After doing all that, spend the night at Waterfire and enjoy incredible music and food and make some amazing summer night memories.
4. Go to a Pawsox game.
For all the avid baseball fans this one is for you. Pawtucket, Rhode Island is the home to the minor league baseball team the Pawsox or the Pawtucket Red Sox. Catch a game while you are visiting RI!
5. Spend the day at Arcadia Management area.
This one is for those outdoor lovers. Arcadia is the perfect place for fishing, hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc. The camp goes on for miles and miles and is a beautiful place to relax and get away from the stress that life brings. Take a fishing rod with you or pack your hiking gear and spend the day soaking up the beautiful scenery that is Arcadia.
6. Go to Narragansett.
Narrangansett is where you can find some of Rhode Island's most popular beaches, whether you chose to visit a state beach or Sand Hill Cove. Narraganset is also one of the homes to one of Rhode Island's most prize possession, Iggy's clam cakes and chowder. Make a day out of it... Visit one of RI's beautiful beaches, do shop shopping in Galilee, grab some of Iggy's delicious doughboys and chowder and then go to Point Judith and spend the evening by the rocks, watching surfers and watching the sun set over the ocean.
