"Oh, Brother"!

5 Signs You Grew Up With Brothers
Sydnee Graff

I grew up with two of the most annoying, but most amazing and loving brothers. My older brother and I are 1 year apart. My younger brother is 7 years younger than me. My older brother has always thought he was the "coolest" because he was "older" by 1 year. Like OK it's not that "cool". But, I also learned how to do more things before he did, like tying my shoes for example.

Here are some signs that you know you grew up with brothers:

1. You are stronger than you ever thought you could be.

Thank you, brothers. All those wrestling matches in the living room have made me stronger than I ever thought I could be. Even if you try saying you let me win, I know for a fact I won fair and square every time, boys.

2. At some point, you have matched.

Thank you, mom, I always wanted to coordinate my Halloween costume with my brother!! But really, if at some time in your life you have never twinned with a sibling then you need to do it now.

Ever heard of 101 Dalmatians? Nah..

3.You ALWAYS had someone on your side.

No matter if it was my older brother or my little brother or both, I knew I would have them on my side no matter what. I get in a fight with a friend, well of course my brothers are going to be on MY side. Middle school or high school boyfriend broke up with you or you broke up with him, my brothers were on my side. If I ever got into a fight with my parents, my brothers would back me up and be on my side.

4. You always learn something from each other.

Yes, I learned how to tie my shoes way before my older brother. Don't let him tell you any differently. I also believe I learned how to ride a bike "better" than him. It made more sense when I was 7, ok. I also learn things from my younger brother. Yes, I really wanted to know how tall NBA basketball players, thank you for telling me.

5. You love them no matter what.

No matter what the situation or outcome is, you will always love your brother unconditionally. Even if you got into a huge argument or fight, you will make up. It's what brothers and sisters do. I wouldn't be able to do life without you guys. Love you crazy people.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
