T- shirt dresses have been in style for a long time now, and for many good reasons. Its classic design is appreciated by girls with all different personal styles. When you fall in love with this look you will want one in every color! With everyone obsessing over black lipsticks, bath bombs, leggings, shirts, and just about anything else imaginable -- a black T-shirt dress just makes sense! Here are a few reasons why your next summer purchase needs to be this staple wardrobe piece!
1. It is a modern spin on the classic LBD.
It is rule number one in the style handbook that the most essential piece in any girl's/woman's closet is a little black dress. It is appropriate for almost every and any occasion and is effortfully timeless. It is possible to be a millennial Holly Golightly with this look, your hair up in a top knot and accessorize like it is your job.

Obviously, I am a lover of fashion -- I would not be writing this if I was not. However, it is hard to turn down my comfortable nike shorts and an oversized T-shirt if I am just running a quick errand or am going shopping with a friend. I promise you that if you find a nice t-shirt dress that fits you nicely and is the proper cotton material, you will be tempted to sleep in in. The only reason why I do not sleep in it is because I want to wash it overnight and wear it the next day (with number 2, above, you can totally get away with it, too!). While you're out with your friends and they are pulling down their shorts to make it cover their legs or are adjusting their tops, you can enjoy wearing socially acceptable pajamas.
4. It looks just as good on everyone.
No matter what your size, shape, skin color, height, or anything else that can come into play is, you will look amazing. Because it is a T-shirt material it will have a great fit just like your favorite graphic tee. The dark color will also hide anything that you do not want to show and with the traditional loose fit, you can accentuate what you want to show by tying a flannel shirt or jacket around your waste or adding a belt. The reason why I love the picture above so much is because the model visibly feels better in the black than in the white. She looks incredible in both, however you can tell that she knows she looks good in the black and she is killin' it! Wearing what you know you look good in makes you look 10,000 times better in any outfit because you let off a vibe that other people pick up on.
5. Hair and makeup also make a huge difference.
As with most things, how you do your hair and makeup determines if you want a look to be more formal or casual. Because the look is so simple, you can really use your hair and makeup to bring it all together. Just like with the accessories, you can wear the exact same thing but give it a completely different look just by if you wear your hair up or down along with how you do your makeup. I think it is super cool when someone has a bold lip color with a black T-shirt dress or has a really unique hairstyle.
6. You can find it anywhere and at any price.
I got mine on sale at Francesca's, however you can find one anywhere from Target to Lands' End. Any sleeve length, hem length, or anything you want I promise that you will not have a problem finding it! With such a staple item in my wardrobe, I could justify splurging a little, but you do not need to!! You can get it at Forever 21 for under $15! You cannot beat that! For something that you can honestly get away with wearing a few times and look completely different, I do not see any reason why anyone should not invest in this!
