1. It’s all pictures. Everyone loves to take pictures of where he or she is, whom he or she is with, and what he or she is doing. Other social media platforms allow users to upload photos or videos but with more effort behind it. You have to press different buttons and “tag friends” or use a hashtag. Snapchat only uses one button in order to take a photo or a video and then it can be sent to whomever extremely quickly.
2. It has filters and everyone loves filters. Even when you’re having a bad hair day or just worked out, you can add a filter on your snap and you’ll think it’s acceptable for others to see. There are only a few filters on Snapchat compared to Instagram, but that means that choosing one is easy and quick.
3. You can add captions directly onto the photo or video. You can basically have a conversation over Snapchat and other people are unable to see this conversation. You also have the option to draw or type on a picture or video, which is just so entertaining to do when you should be studying for finals.
4. Many locations have created their own “Snapchat location filter”, which is an additional filter that molds to where you are. Some locations like DC, New York, Miami, and Las Vegas have multiple location filters that allow users to mix up which one they want to use when sending their Snapchats. With these attractive location filters, people are able to see where other users are and can make conversation based off of that.
5. You can set a Snapchat as “Your Story”, which means everyone who follows you on the app will be able to see that photo or video. Even better, you are able to see who looks at “Your Story”. If you want to send a Snapchat to one friend individually, you are also able to see when that friend has seen the picture or video that you sent. Basically you know everyone whose looked at the stuff you’ve posted.
6. Because it is fast, easy, and taking selfies is encouraged. Taking selfies is a fad that has just expanded due to the creation of Snapchat. It is like FaceTime but with still images, and everyone loves to FaceTime. Many girls will take any chance to take a selfie, especially in class or over the weekend. Guys are also able to enjoy it, which has lead to its great success and appeal to young adults.
