Well, for many of us this is one of the greatest times because of the Olympics. We only get to watch the extreme talent our country has every four years, so if you're not watching the Olympic Games, you're doing something wrong. It's definitely not often that we are able to watch the best athletes in our country compete, so here's some simple reasons as to why you should be watching the Olympics.
1. Michael Phelps
On Thursday August 11, Michael Phelps claimed his 22nd Olympic gold medal of his career. This 31 year old never ceases to amaze.
2. The USA Women's Gymnastics Team
Watching the USA gymnastics team is pretty unreal if you ask me. I find myself constantly watching and wondering--wait what? How can they even move that part of their body? Watching the women's vault is absolutely incredible and the USA is already killing the gymnastic game.
3. Katie Ledecky
Katie Ledecky is a 19 year old girl who has already won 3 Olympic gold medals in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, and and the freestyle relay. Seeing someone the same age as me with so much talent is mind blowing.
4. Medal Count
Yes, the athletes are fantastic to watch, but the Olympic medal count is a fun way to stay in touch with the games. It's fun to see how well your country is doing and how many people have gotten gold.
5. Golf is back
For all the golf lovers out there, Golf has returned this year to the olympics for the first time in over 100 years. There are 41 countries competing.
6. TEAM USA
Well, this has to be the most obvious reason. There are 365 first time Olypmians competing for the USA and a total of 554 athletes. The USA has also sent over 250 females, which is the most by any nation thus far.
