6 Reasons Why Moving Can Be Fun

While I didn’t have any finals to prepare for, I did have to prepare to move a whole two minutes away from school.

As I was carrying my belongings (that seemed to have quadrupled over the school year) down three flights of stairs in my old dorm and then up another to my new place of residence for the summer, I tried to distract myself from my tired arms and sweaty body by thinking about how fun it is to move...

  • You get to clean everything out

Before you move out for the summer or move just in general, you want to make sure you’re not moving any more than you have to. So you give stuff away or sell it! I made $50 at Plato’s Closet with clothes I couldn’t fathom moving.

Let me just say that I hit 10,000 steps around 10:00am yesterday, if that’s any indication of how the move went...Even if you hate working out, moving works all kinds of muscles you didn’t know you had! When I woke up this morning, I was sorer than I am after an actual workout at the gym, so there ya go!

  • You get to reorganize

Everyone has a set way they like things or a routine based on where everything is in their place of residence. Well when you move to a new place you can switch up the way things are organized and change up your routine!

  • Change of scenery

Even just being in the same dorm for a whole year may get kind of monotonous. You take the same route to the same classes and see the same people every day, but when you move, you get a new view from your window and a new route to work or school!

  • More responsibilities

I moved from a dorm to a house, so I have a lot more to take care of. There’s dishes to do, and a bathroom to clean! While some people might think this sounds awful, as someone who is close to graduating and entering the real world, I’m super excited to have more responsibilities, even if it does mean taking out the trash.

  • New roommates

Chances are you’re moving to a house or apartment with either your family or some roommates in it. Luckily for me, I’ve known my new roommates for years now, but it will be fun to actually live with them. There’s a lot of memories to create over the course of the summer, or whatever length you’ll be staying in your new place!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
