Growing up with a woman like you is an incredible experience. You have taught me so many things that I will carry on for the rest of my life. Once I started my University life we grew closer then I could ever imagine, and I thought we were close before! I will never be able to truly express my gratitude for being blessed to have a strong woman as a mother like you! Here are the top five things I want to thank you for.
1. Working hard for me
As far as I can remember you have always worked long and hard days. In the society we live in you have to in order to provide your children a better life. Great parents want better lives for their children, and sometimes they work too much to provide that while missing out on their children's lives. You being the strong woman you never put work before me. This taught me that family means so much more than money.
2. Being my biggest supporter
Even with your busy work schedule you always made sure to be in the crowd to support me. You made sure I never felt unsupported, and unwanted. Between the plays, performances, banquets, and events I could always count on you to be in the front row cheering me on! Any time a fundraiser came around for any of the activities I was in I knew you would be the first to buy or donate. I never realized how much of an importance this was to me until this year. For all these years, I have taken advantage of this without realizing it.
3. Allowing me to choose my own path
I have never been great with decisions and you know that! All my life I would ask you over and over again about any decisions I had to make. Until I made my final decision you would not voice your opinion, unless it really concerned you for my well being. I realized I won't always be able to depend on you. I never realized how important this life lesson would be until now.
4. Your unconditional love
Looking at all the sacrifices you have made for me has taught me what unconditional love truly means. You have always loved me for who I am no matter the mistakes I have made. After all of our life chats I have learned what you truly gave up and the way you spoke you never regretted anything! I know by the way you speak with me you wouldn't have done anything different!
5. Being my 'person'
The older I get the more I see you are my person. I can count on you for everything! When I am having a bad day I know you are just a call or text away. When I am home I don't even have to say anything for you to know exactly what I am thinking. I can call you and vent to you about the good, the bad, and even just to catch up on what has been going on while I am away at college.
Thank you for always being you. They say we grow up to be like our parents, and if that is true then I am proud of who I am. There is not anything big enough to show you how grateful I am to have a mother like you.
"I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you, my heart has no bottom."
