Friendship is important. No matter where your friends are, they will always be your friends. Whether they're two miles down the road or a thousand miles away in another state, they are still your friend. Long distance friends are important, just as important as friends you can see on a day to day basis.
To my long distance friends,
Thank you for always keeping our friendship even though sometimes I find it hard to. It means a lot to me that you are constantly willing to do a lot of things to keep our friendship afloat, even though at times I can't manage it at all. You are the glue that holds our friendship together. I can't thank you enough for that.
Thank you for always being there for me no matter how far away you are. Whether it be an hour-long car ride, an hour-long plane ride or a five-hour plane ride, you somehow always manage to be there for me. Most times, a text from you means more than a text from a friend I saw yesterday. I hope I'm there for you as much as you are for me, and if I'm not, I need to be. I appreciate you reading my paragraph texts and answering my one-word texts.
Thank you for not hating me when I forget to call. You're important to me, and don't think otherwise. But sometimes, I'm lucky to remember what day it is, so the fact that I was supposed to call you may slip through the cracks, just like the laundry I was gonna do. But know this — forgetting to call you doesn't mean I forget you. It means I'm a scatter brain 50 percent of the time. You probably know this.
Thank you for always keeping our friendship the same. The fact that I can go months without seeing you and when I do it's like I saw you yesterday is so important to me. Friendship has no age, and it doesn't expire. I'm glad you help me make sure ours never does. There aren't many people I would enjoy spending hours recapping the last couple months of my life with. And there aren't many people I'd want to listen to for hours, except you.
Most importantly, thank you for being my friend. Thank you for managing to move away, but still keep our friendship. Thank you for thinking I'm more important than that girl from high school we hung out with twice. Thank you for helping me cherish our friendship. It means more to me than anything else.
I love you more than the miles between us. I cherish you more than the gas it would take to get to you. You are a one of a kind friend, and you're my one of a kind friend. I wouldn't trade you for anything. And, at the end of the day, I couldn't be more grateful for you.
