With classes gearing up in anticipation for the end of the semester and the onset of finals, I am betting that most of us need a little pick-me-up of positivity -- something to push us through to the end (I certainly do). Get ready for an absurd amount of cheesy clichés, and an overwhelming sense of encouragement.
You can do anything. All it takes is a little positivity and determination. Most of the time I find myself exaggerating all I have to get done. In reality it's never as bad as I think it is. As long as you think you can get it all done, you will get it all done (even if it takes gallons of caffeine and several hours). Wake up in the morning knowing that you will be productive today. Getting started is often the hardest part, so hit the ground running! Don’t let yourself get bogged down in the seemingly infinite amount of stuff you have to do; focus on how you will feel once it is all said and done. And then when you do finish, treat yo self! Chocolate, shopping, coffee break, a few hours with your friends, anything that will give you some down time. Make sure you reward yourself because knowing that there's something or someone waiting for you at the end of a few productive hours will make you much more efficient!
You can handle anything and everything. Ten-page research paper, 15-page article review and an exam all on the same day? You got this. Be strong and push through; don’t quit. You are stronger than you think and give yourself credit for. Tackle those papers and projects with confidence! Show those exams who’s boss! Cut yourself off from Facebook and Instagram and your phone and get down to business. Your friends will still be there when you finish.
You deserve the very best. You are an amazing human being and don’t compromise that by associating yourself with negative people. Don’t settle: surround yourself with only the best people. Detach yourself from anyone who brings negativity into your life and don’t look back -- positive vibes only. It’s easy to put yourself aside and focus on other people, but at the end of the day you are the most important person in your life. It sounds kind of dumb and obvious, but it’s true! Focus on making you the best you can be. You will find yourself happier and more confident. Think happy, be happy.
Everything that stands between you and going home for the summer is within your ability. You will make it through the next couple of weeks! The enormous feeling of happiness you will derive from packing up your dorm room, seeing your parents pull up in their car and then walking into your house knowing that you will be there for the next 3 or 4 months will be well worth the stress and chaos of the end of the semester. Stay positive and think about hugging your mom and dad, or seeing your dog, and you will most definitely emerge in one piece.
