When going through the college application process, there is a reason you end up at the university that you attend. There is a checklist of things that admissions follows–which is why, when you walk around campus, you relate to people so much. The college application process works, and the only way to know that is, after spending a significant amount of time as an actual student, going to another university and experiencing a completely different student body.
Walking around campus, you can feel the pride and school spirit circulating every classroom, hallway, restaurant, and I'm pretty sure even bathroom. The power of the Trojan family is real and it is something that we are incredibly proud of. A lot of factors apply when relating to pride, not just sports and academics. When applying to schools I knew I wanted a school that had an incredible support system and something that I can always rely on and turn back to when I needed help and guidance in my career.
USC has proven their loyalty to me as a student and successful adult, time and time again. The fact that I can speak to one single professor and ask for help with building a contact list for a start-up entertainment show, and receive a contact from the Hollywood Foreign Press who is more that willing to give as much help as needed due to their strong connection to USC, makes me feel like all things are possible. Not a lot of people can say that.
Also, the utilities that are presented to USC students gives us such an advantage over other students. Someone said to me once that the Annenberg Media Center has better technology than the most popular news center in their city. At the beginning of my career being able to access such power tools to gives me the upper hand in my field.
What I love about USC is that all of the students understand how lucky they are and they thrive on this. Everyone is supportive of each other's goals and want to work together to make something great with the tools and opportunities that are given to them. As a result, working hard translates back to USC as an incredible institution. Students hold their head high and want people to know that they are from USC.
Collectivity is the core reason why USC feels like home to an immense amount of people. Throughout the course of your life, all the skills you acquire will somehow relate back to your time at USC. It is where you grow and find yourself as a person and it all starts with that tiny checklist that the admissions council follow which dictates whether you are a good fit or not.
