5 Ways To Deal With Your Period
Buzzfeed

In every young woman’s life, she is forced to deal with several issues. Besides the slut-shaming and sexist comments, she also has a certain friend that comes every other month. Yes, I am talking about her period.

For the next five to seven days, you or women in your life will experience horrible cramps, bloating, mood swings, and occasionally, bad acne. Now, while all of these are so difficult to deal with, there are six ways to deal with your period a little bit.

1- Take a shower

When you shower, you’ll feel relaxed and it helps when you’re cramping! I suggest using the Stress Relief aromatherapy shower gel. Whenever I use it, it makes me feel ten times better. I suggest that plus changing the sheets on your bed and wearing your most comfortable set of Pajamas and just relaxing.

2-Ice Cream is your friend

When the cramps are being a pain and you don’t feel well, you turn to your new bff- ice cream. I know that when I am on the couch, watching tv, I have chocolate chip cookie dough with me and suddenly, everything is much better.

Speaking of tv…

3- Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime is life.

My current obsession on Netflix is The Office and let me tell you- it’s hilarious and definitely puts me in a better mood while I deal with cramps and bloating. Just put on your favorite show that will take your mind off all the pain and struggles at the moment and enjoy.

4- Sleep is, and always will be, life.

SLEEP is oh so needed when you are on your period. That first day should be filled with naps, naps, and more naps. Sleeping helps when you are feeling crappy and once again take you away from reality, even if it’s for a bit. But all you need is a heating pad and your bed and you’re good to go.

5- take two pills a day!

Tylenol, Advil, Midol, the list goes on. Take two pills a day every day (one in the morning, one in the evening) and go about your day as normal as possible!

Now that everything is set and ready to go, take shower, put on your PJs, get out the ice cream, and turn on Netflix and just relax! Oh, don’t forget the pills too!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
