Everyone has those days where nothing seems to go your way. You lose your cell phone, you go to the grocery, and you can’t find anything that you need. The odds seem to be against your favor. Here a few ways to make it through those kinds of days and turn that frown upside down! (I know it's cheesy, but it rhymed, so I had to).
1. Exercise (What did she just say?)
Yes, I know it's shocking, but it is proven that exercise can boost your mood. Endorphins are released which leaves you with a happy “high” after your workout. Go for a run, go dance with your friends at Zumba, take your dog for a walk, or go ride a bike. Do something to get you moving and get your mind off of that horrible grade that you just got on your test or off of that horrible co-worker who you just can’t stand. I promise that after just thirty minutes of exercise your mood will go from sour to sweet.
2. Turn on the tunes and jam out
Roll down the windows, blast your favorite guilty pleasure song and sing at the top of your lungs. Play the songs that get you hyped. Whether it’s Justin Bieber or MGMT, play some music and feel the good vibes. Songs tend to spark memories, so if you know of a great memory and a song that goes with it, find it and turn up the radio!
3. Get organized
Pull out your planner, clean off your desk, and organize. This takes time and will get your mind off of whatever is making you grumpy and no fun to be around. Plus, once you are done you’ll be feeling accomplished and on your A-game.
4. Play with your pet(s)
There is nothing better than the love that your dog or cat always greets you with. No matter if it has been an hour or a week, your pet greets you with a love that makes you feel appreciated and leaves you smiling. You don’t have a pet? Hit up your local Humane Society or animal shelter and play with the dogs and or cats that do not have homes. You not only will come out feeling happy but so will those pets. It's a win-win situation!
5. Turn off your electronics
Take a little break from all the social media, from where so and so is and from who is doing what. Take some time for yourself and do something that will bring you joy, whether that is taking a few minutes to pray and thank the Lord for all that he has blessed you with or meditating & stretching. Step out of the social media world just for a little while, relax and spend some time for yourself.
It’s easy to have a bad day, let it drag on, and to be grumpy for the rest of the day just because a few things went wrong. Don’t be that person who accidentally says something to someone just because you are in a bad mood. Make a change and get your day back on track. Get out of the bitter mood and into a content and fun mood. You can do anything that you set your mind to!
