Relaxation is one of the best things you can do for yourself physically and mentally. In my opinion, it's a necessity. Overloads of stress and anxiety are a big problem in adults as well as teens. Stress is a well-known slow killer and is rampant in our society today. Life is naturally filled with demands and frustrations, but people shouldn't allow themselves to get so stressed that it severely affects their health.

Whether you're a determined student, a hard worker, or a busy parent, everyone needs to set aside the time to relax and take a breath. However, another issue is time. Not many people have enough time in their busy lives to relax.

Here are five easy ways you can relax:

1. Listen To Music

The soothing power of music is well-established. Music has a clear and unique link to our emotions, so it can be an extremely effective stress management strategy. Music can easily grab our attention, therefore it acts as a distraction and, at the same time, helps to explore our emotions. Singing along can also be a great release of tension. When people are very stressed, they tend to avoid listening to music due to it creating a feeling of procrastination. However, productivity tends to increase when stress decreases.

2. Read

Reading can be a wonderful escape from the stress of everyday life. By simply opening a book, you allow yourself to be absorbed into a different literary world that distracts you from your overwhelming stressors. This gives you and your mind the freedom it needs to relax and regain some mental strength. Reading can also relax your body physically by lowering your heart rate and easing the stress related tension in your muscles. Pick a book you love or try reading something new.

3. Laugh

Laughter can protect you from the damaging effects of stress. It is considered a powerful antidote. Nothing works faster to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Laughter makes you feel good and the good feeling that you get from it remains with you even after the laughter subsides. Have a good laugh and take the time to enjoy the simple things in life.

4. Get Creative

Many people find doing creative projects, whether it be writing, drawing, painting, or doing a DIY, to be an excellent way to relax. Trying your hand at a new project takes undivided attention to make it your own. If your creation is not what you wanted it to be the first time, you can try again until the end result is what you desire, but it never has to be perfect. While your mind is busy thinking about and doing your project at hand, it will not have a chance to worry you with stressful thoughts.

5. Hang Out With Friends Or Family

Socializing with your friends and family may directly impact stress levels. Always remember that quality matters when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Therefore, having two or three close friends or family members is more effective than surrounding yourself with a large group of people that you don't know very well. People who are very socially connected feel wanted and cared for. These individuals can talk through problems and share feelings with others. Spend time socializing with these types of people in your life to strengthen your positivity and weaken your stress.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
