If you've spent any time on the Internet, you've probably seen a couple of articles called "X Trends That Women Love That Men Hate!" or "X Trends That Women Need to Stop Following." Usually these articles are written by bitter sad dudes and consist of blaming a woman liking red lipstick or high-waisted pants for some moral failure on her part. I figured that, since guys love to tell women what they don't like about them, maybe I would switch things up and, as a woman, talk about five trends guys are all about, but that women cant stand.
1. Murdering women who reject them.
Does rejection suck? Absolutely. You know what sucks more? Getting murdered. So, hey guys, maybe stop killing women who reject you. Especially when you go on to talk about how it was "easy" to kill a woman because she "ruined your life" by not being interested in your creepy sexual advances.
2. Thinking women should be "smart" as long as they aren't as smart as you.
According to research done by the University of Buffalo, the University of Texas at Austin, and California Lutheran University, "86 percent of men reported that they would feel comfortable dating someone smarter than they." These aren't the only findings to display this sort of idea. Columbia's research in 2006 "found that men in a speed-dating environment found intelligence appealing unless they perceived their female date to be smarter than they." If you're insecure about your intelligence maybe do something to change that instead of expecting women to dumb themselves down for you, guys.
3. Openly hating women interested in "nerdy" stuff while complaining about the fact that they don't want to f*ck you.
Let's take a look at a statement from Tony Harris, a nice chill dude who has done art for comics such as "Iron Man." Our good friend Tony had this to say:
"I cant remember if I've said this before, but I'm gonna say it anyway. I don't give a crap. I appreciate a pretty Gal as much as the next hetero male. Sometimes I even go in for some racy type stuff ( keeping the comments PG for my ladies sake) but dammit, dammit, dammit I am so sick and tired of the whole COSPLAY-Chiks. I know a few who are actually pretty cool-and BIG shocker, love and read comics. So as in all things, they are the exception to the rule. Here's the statement I wanna make, based on THE RULE: "Hey! Quasi-Pretty-NOT-Hot-Girl, you are more pathetic than the REAL Nerds, who YOU secretly think are REALLY PATHETIC. But we are onto you. Some of us are aware that you are ever so average on an everyday basis...We are LEGION. And here it is, THE REASON WHY ALL THAT, sickens us: BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW SH*T ABOUT COMICS, BEYOND WHATEVER GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH YOU DID TO GET REF ON THE MOST MAINSTREAM CHARACTER WITH THE MOST REVEALING COSTUME EVER. And also, if ANY of these guys that you hang on tried to talk to you out of that Con? You wouldn't give them the f*cking time of day. Shut up you damned liar, no you would not. Lying, Liar Face. Yer not Comics. Your just the thing that all the Comic Book, AND mainstream press flock to at Cons. And the real reason for the Con, and the damned costumes yer parading around in? That would be Comic Book Artists, and Comic Book Writers who make all that shit up."
Doesn't it break your heart? These poor misogynists want to send these women sexually threatening messages online and grope them in public and these girls have the nerve to reject them and these girls may say that they're huge comic fans but, c'mon, a GIRL could never like comics, right? Except for the fact that any preliminary research would remind these fake geek boys that WOMEN invented science fiction and superheroes.
4. Expecting your wife's career to take the backseat to yours.
According to this study, "...high-achieving women are not meeting the career goals they set for themselves in their 20s. It’s not because they’re 'opting out' of the workforce when they have kids, but because they’re allowing their partners’ careers to take precedence over their own." Societies by and large continually privilege the lives and careers of men over those of women and teach women that we should be self-sacrificing to help the men in our lives succeed, and doesn't this trend just need to end, ladies?
5. Hating women.
So here they are, guys; some trends that women absolutely hate. Oh, wait, were you expecting me to talk about knee high socks with Adidas sandals or guys who wear shorts all the time despite the weather? Well, I could, but I think these "trends" are a bit more of a problem that you guys need to face than freezing the lower parts of your legs off in some display of masculinity, don't you?
