Lately, I've been in this haze and just not feeling good: feeling tired, lazy, no motivation to do anything, REALLY dreading school, my love life is a grade E-, I'm struggling with body issues and most importantly, I haven't felt like myself.
I'm sure many of you have gone through this slump in your life and maybe you are going through it right now. It's hard to get over that slump when Netflix, Hulu, etc. just is too addicting....as well as junk food and well, let's be real: Tinder. (Or Bumble, if you know what that is.) I can just lay in bed for hours addicting over all of these things and it really is getting me nowhere in life besides going downhill.
Maybe you have other things that put you into a slump whether it's been a recent break-up or an eating disorder and being out of shape, depression or maybe it simply is that school is here. I have found just a few things that have started to make me feel better again and I figured you might be interested in hearing them. Whether you take them to heart or not is your choice, but this might just get you out of your slump and help you to feel yourself again, as I slowly, but surely am.
1. Just start eating better.
It's really as simple as that. In Michigan, it is apple and peach season! Eat away all the yummy fruits and veggies that you can! I hate vegetables but have slowly made myself try new things and it has really opened my mind and stomach to a whole new array of foods! Also, just eat an apple a day. Keep that doctor away and feel better! It is proven that an apple a day will make you feel better so get a good start to your morning and eat that delicious honey crisp.
2. Work. Out.
I know, who really wants to do that? Some people have a born passion for it and I just don't get it. But it is a necessary part of life to living healthy and more importantly, feeling better. When I don't go to the gym and even skip a day of it, I feel terrible and regret not going. Whether you like to sprint, run, jog, lift weights, swim, you can find something to keep your body moving!
3. Find something you have a passion in.
Something you can dedicate yourself to. My passion has always been music but due to recent injuries, I haven't been able to play which has put me out of commission for my true art form I love to do! I have now found other things such as knitting and drawing to keep me from getting bored with myself.
4. Get Organized.
I know it's easier said than done. You see all those people who take photos and post them on Instagram and man, does their life look so put together-- plain, simple and organized. Well, it probably is! Clean up your room, tidy up that kitchen, organize your phone, computer, etc. Get a calendar on the wall to write things down so they are right there in front of you.
5. Lastly, get out and find a GOOD friend.
I know, this is easier said than done, but in my experience, the one thing that drags me down and does not make me motivated is not having anyone to share my accomplishments, even if they are as small as saying, "I cleaned my apartment today!" Being able to show someone the things you have done is a huge factor in making yourself feel better. This also gives your friend room to do the same and you can be supportive back. Find someone who cares, who can go through the phases of life with you, day by and day and support you.
I hope with these few things you can start to tidy up your life and feel better; feel more like you.
