5 Tips On Saving Money From An Overspender
Radical Compliance

This past week I spent money on a makeup subscription bag that I don't need, a white fur throw because who doesn't need that in their life, several trips to Dunkin' Donuts (what's new?) and lots of food that I have a hard time regretting buying. I am trying to put this frivolous, careless lifestyle behind me and actually save my money and invest in things I actually care about such as travel. Today I am here to give you five tips on how to effectively spend and save your money because I'm obviously doing a bang up job myself. But in all seriousness I want to save you all from those sad moments like when you're about to swipe your card for a $3 dollar coffee, but you stop to check your account because you're a #responsiblehoe and it turns out you're a #irresponsiblehoe because you have only $.37 cents in your checking account.

To avoid tragedies such as this here are five tips on saving money from your favorite overspender:

1. Save half of every paycheck.

This is seriously the easiest and quickest way to save your money. I am talking as soon as you get your check immediately transfer half to savings and do not touch it. It can be tough to put money aside once it's already in your checking account so, make it easier for yourself and just go ahead and lock it away. You will thank me later.

2. Make a budget.

You can't spend $40 a week on fast food and refuse to spend $30 on something you actually need to pay for such as school supplies or a phone bill. You have to budget your money. Set aside money for rent, clothes, food and "fun" money. Obviously the most money goes to the most important category and that category will never be "fun" money. I know, it's tragic.

3. Don't impulse buy.

There are so many clothes in my closet that I have worn maybe once or twice and every time I see them hanging there all sad and unworn I ask myself why the heck did I buy that. The next time you're out with no intent to spend a lot and suddenly see something you want to buy, take a picture or a note of it. Give yourself three days to a week to think about it and decide if you really need a use for it. If you don't want it a week from now you saved yourself from impulse buying. Go you!

4. Save up for something.

When you have something you're saving up for it makes it easier to save money. It gives you a reason to not overspend and be conscious of what you're spending your money on. It can be something specific like tickets to a concert or something really broad like travel. Simply set a goal and keep it in mind.

5. Treat yo' self.

You're not working all day everyday not to spend something on yourself. It is okay to treat yourself from time to time! Go get a manicure or buy that ridiculously overpriced t-shirt, you've earned it. Yes, it is important to save money and to be responsible, but it is also very important to show yourself some love too.

Happy saving!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
