Living in the great state of New York has always brought on some heavy winters and hot summers. But, every year right around the same time, the weather changes and old habits from previous winters come back to me. I basically hibernate until the sun is strong enough to start a base tan for my summer glow. The hibernation process happens for me the first day the temperature drops below 33 degree Fahrenheit, and Netflix starts to become a larger part of my days.
1. Hot showers that almost burn my skin off.
Being outside for a whole 10 seconds to get from my car to my front door is like walking through Antartica. To immediately solve the cold I'm feeling all over, I take boiling hot showers that remind me why the warmth is so great. This also reminds me as to why I think it's a good idea to shower in boiling hot water...
2. Binge watching Netflix to the point of no return.
Since cold weather draws me to stay inside more, the only thing to cure my bordeom rather than do any actual work is to binge watch a new TV show on Netflix, because why not? Once I find a show that grasps my interest, I'm glued to my bed and my computer screen til March.
3. Making my bed somehow...comfier in the morning.
Waking up knowing I have to go to class already makes my bed call my name even more in the mornings, but cold weather makes it scream my name loud. It takes about 6 alarms and two physical alarm clocks to remind me how late I'll actually be and how hard it is to part with my bed. It also transforms to a way comfier bed than I remember from the summer.
4. Rediscovering just exactly how many fuzzy socks I own.
Fuzzy socks and comfy pajamas are my 'thing' in the winter time. Being comfy from my head to my feet is a necessiate of mine in the cold. While digging through my socks drawer every single year, I almost forget the crazy amount of fuzzy socks I actually own. I wear a pair everyday in the winter. I will also probably buy 10 more pairs this winter.
5. "Seasonal Sadness"
Every single year I'm probably the happiest, carefree person in the summer. As soon as the cold hits, seasonal depression hits me like a wall. Being upset about stupid things such as not having what I wanted for dinner. For me it's anything food related.
The long months of the winter that seem to drag on, compared to summer that goes by in the blink of eye, these are my top five things you'll catch the cold weather doing to me. It also makes me wish summer was all year round and makes me question where I'll live when I'm older.
