In the world, there are groups. Groups that love hockey, groups that love animals and then you have this whole other breed of humans that love makeup. Now, when I say "love makeup" I don't mean the casual stroll through Sephora, say something is a pretty shade and leave. I mean, in-depth conversations with the workers and comparing 29 shades of red lipstick that someone who didn't obsess with makeup would just call "red." *Cue the moment from "The Devil Wears Prada" when Andy realizes that the blue belt is not just a blue belt.* So if you're one of us, you'll also know that these five things happen to and are appreciated by every make-up addict.
1. You walk into Sephora like it is the Taj Mahal.
Is it an ivory colored mausoleum or just a building that holds $500,000 worth of the best make-up money can buy? Six of one or half a dozen of the other right?
2. You know the workers at your favorite shop by their first name.
"Hey Sally, what's up? Did you get new highlights? Wait, are you wearing Lolita by Kat Von D? Ugh, totally knew it. Looks great on you."
3. You say you're going there for just a new highlighter but never leave with just a highlighter.
"Okay, so what are you shopping for today?" Hardest question ever. I mean, of course, I'm looking for a new highlighter, but my Better Than Sex mascara is almost out, and I'm also running low on my favorite purple lipstick... it's a tough life.
4. Samples. Are. Everything.
Samples are great for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly, they are free. FREE! I'll take just about anything that is free, so when you add makeup into the equation it really is a whole other story. Who in the world would say no to trying a new foundation, even though the whole bottle is $76? We can dream for two days, right?
5. The point system and the perks.
So whether you go to Sephora or Ulta or whatever tickles your fancy, they have a point system. A point system that earns you *free* stuff! (You actually have to spend an arm and a leg and sell your soul to the devil in order to obtain a lot of points). But, you were going to spend that anyway so what the hell, right?
Do not fret, my other little make-up addicts; you are not alone. We are in this together. If you want to blow your savings account on new lipsticks, you deserve that right. I mean, I wouldn't recommend it, but you do reserve that right. So go out, buy some new foundation. Make yourself feel good (and look good, too). Nothing can stop a person with confidence and a good face primer (not even tears).
