Being a student athlete takes a lot of determination, motivation, dedication and time management. Early morning weights, mid day practices, and late night study sessions are some of the things you endure when being an athlete at any level. I have come to know the student athlete struggles over the past few years and the five things I absolutely hate are

1. Washing Practice Clothes

It feels like the pile never ends. You wash one day and then two days later, you have a pile stacked up again. This especially sucks for college athletes who live in the dorms and pay to wash their laundry!

2. Night Cramps

For me its always around 2 a.m., and I am trying to roll over to my side and stretch out my legs and then the Charlie Horse hits. Night cramps are one of the worst parts about being an athlete.

3.Late Night Practices

You've already been up early, went through a whole school day, have homework piling up, and an essay due, but you have practice till 10 p.m. Late night practices have their pros and their cons. The pros are that they can help an athlete get better or stay consistent at something before a big game or competition. The con is that it can really stress you out or have you falling behind in your school work.

4. Doing Punishments For Other Teammates

When a teammate is constantly not showing up to practices or is constantly late to things and your coach makes the rest of the team condition because of them is one of the most upsetting things. The coach is doing his/her job by making everything team orientated, but it sucks when people don't want to put in the effort or commitment they signed up for.

5. Bus Rides After You Lose

This is the most quiet two hour drive home you will ever have, enough said.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
