As we stroll into the second third of the semester and we prepare for midterms and advising, it’s easy to get scared about graduating in the next few months. Well, you aren’t alone while you rerun the idea of graduating with no set job and moving back in with your parents after being on your own for four years. Here are 5 reminders to help you relax.
1. Talk to your adviser about what you're feeling because they were once in your position too.
They are there to advise you in more ways than just what classes to take so you can graduate with your friends and if you go to a small school like I do, it’s likely there are some professors or advisers that even completed their undergrad at your school.
2. Don't let your fear eclipse the fun you can have during your last year.
Always remember to study when you need to but until may, this is your last opportunity to live life like you are truly in college, so go ahead and go out of Friday night but remember to study on Saturday morning.
3. You are what you eat- but not quite yet.
It’s okay to eat poorly once and a while when you’re stressed or even if you want to make cookies for the third night in a row because your friends are over. You will have a long time to think about what you’re eating and how often you go to the gym, so why not save that until you really have to be an adult.
4. Look around for what you might want to do post-grad.
Glancing on jobs online can only help you. They often have a job description following the title and depending on your major, doing this might help you find your end goal and give you a little piece of mind.
5. Try to treat yo' self
If you know Parks and Recreation like my friends and I do, you know what treat yo’ self is. This day is a day where you should ditch all of your responsibilities and even live outside your means for a day. I know on a college budget this seems difficult but you don’t have to go broke. Spend $2 on a face mask at Ulta and maybe another $5 on that new nail polish color you’ve been eyeing since the summer line came out. But, spend that day at home binge watching Netflix and treating yourself to your new goods. You can choose any day and it doesn’t have to be on October 13th.
