Everyone wishes they could go back and redo high school. Some are just glad that they finally got out of there and don't plan on looking back. There are many things I wish I would have done differently during my high school experience. These are just a few of them...

1. Joined more extracurricular activities

I was always too scared to do things. Worried I wasn’t going to be good enough, that I’d just make a fool of myself. So I never did anything. I never helped out in the plays like I wanted to, I didn’t stick with French club (mostly because I didn’t have rides). I was just so nervous to be around new people or a huge group of people. I wasn’t until my junior year that I kind of pushed myself out of my comfort zone. And even then, I didn’t do as much as I wish I could have.

2. Did art all four years

I started out my high school career by taking the basic art class, fine art prep. I always loved doing art as a pastime, but I never actually thought I was good enough to continue. At the end of every year, I would greatly consider joining another art class but was always too scared to. It wasn’t until my senior year that I actually took more classes, and I loved it. I learned so much that I never even knew about, and I gained a newfound confidence. Now every day I’m beating myself up knowing that if I would have kept up with art I would be so much better than I am right now.

3. Studied more

I went to high school with a 3.8 GPA, I continued freshman year with this same GPA. Then, it all went downhill. I started to care less and less about my grades. I figured I could just do minimal work and just pass by. Granted I was right, I always got A’s and B’s, but I wish I would have pushed myself that extra mile to get and keep my grades up. Instead of doing all my homework in homeroom and never studying, I wish I would have taken my time and actually tried to learn everything. But there’s always a fresh start in college.

4. Joined track or tried out for a sport

I always wanted to join track and stay in shape. I loved running and I was so excited to actually do it. But I never did. I was so nervous to be with all of these new people I have never seen. I was so afraid that I would make a fool of myself that I never did it. I also wanted to try out for softball. I always loved playing softball during my rec years but when it actually came down to tryouts I settled for just being a manager. I was worried that everyone else was so good and that I wouldn’t have a chance. If only I would have just tried out…

5. Took harder classes

All I wanted was harder classes so I didn’t have to actually work and stress myself out too much. I took classes like wellness walking, crafts (which is literally just sewing and gluing things together), and a lot of music classes. Nothing that I actually had to try in. I took two AP classes but never really tried in those either. And that was the problem. I was so lazy that I treated my AP classes like every other regular class. If I would have actually just taken school seriously then maybe I would have been in better in school.

Overall I wish I would have lived my high school experience to the fullest. Because four years turns into four days real quick. Don’t ever think you’re not good enough because you are, you can do anything you want to and set your mind to. Push yourself out of your comfort zones. Don’t let your fear of messing up keep you from trying something new.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
