Not everyone has the chance to attend or be invited to a NYFW show. This year, I was lucky enough to be invited to KYBOE's NYFW show, and I successfully attended it. Being that this was my first NYFW show, I didn't really know what to expect or what would be normal at any of these shows. The most exposure that I have ever had to a NYFW before today (September 10th, 2016 -- day of KYBOE's NYFW show) was on Project Runway when I'd watch the season finales. With that being said, here's a list of ten things and thoughts regarding KYBOE's show.
1. I did not expect to see a conveyor belt of hands with watches on them.
Although this makes sense and was nice to see, I didn't expect it. At the show, they also had models showing off of the watches that the company had, which was nice to see. The hands were kind of cute, but I honestly thought that some of them were creepy -- like here's a hand for you to see with this watch on it.
2. I wish the show was longer.
One hour of seeing amazing (and pretty nice looking tbh) models walking on the runway was not enough for my appreciation. Also, the music that they were walking to was amazing, which made it harder to leave the venue once the show was over.
3. I thought that having foam fingers as a little souvenir from the show was unique.
Usually, I'd expect to see foam fingers at a baseball game or at some form of sports gift shop -- not at a NYFW show. Not only did the foam fingers come in several colors, but they were also branded so that they help promote the company and their products.
4. Personally, I enjoyed the short video in the beginning of the show that explained the company and their products.
Maybe I'm naive and would want to think that this usually doesn't happen, but I wouldn't know. All I've ever seen prior to this show happened to be the designers on Project Runway giving a small speech about how they were so appreciative to be at NYFW and blah blah blah. Before the show, I did go on the company's website (which is hyperlinked in the intro paragraph) to check out what this company was all about, and I ended up falling in love with some of their products in which I may or may not end up buying at some point.
5. I wish there were some refreshments being served.
When I got to the event, I was thirsty for some water or for something from Starbucks. Maybe it was because I had done some walking around in the heat and also had a long train ride to the event's location from my dorm on a hot train. I was hoping that there would be something for me to drink at the show, but that didn't happen.
