This past football season has definitely been a roller coaster ride for the Rebels. There were many ups and downs, but the season ended with more triumphs than failures. Currently ranked 12th in the College Football Power Rankings, it is safe to say that the program is gaining momentum. Since football season is sadly over for Ole Miss, I thought it would be fun to recount the sweetest wins throughout the season!
5. Beating LSU @ home
After last season's sad loss to the Tigers, the Rebs were more than ready to take on LSU. However, because LSU was 7-0 at one point this past season, it was somewhat daunting. The energy in both The Grove and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was both tense and exciting. Rebel fans and Tiger fans were itching to get the show on the road. Ole Miss ended up beating the Tigers, therefore making life a tad bit sweeter.
Final Score: LSU: 17 Ole Miss: 38
4. Beating Auburn @ AU
Final Score: Auburn: 19 Ole Miss: 27
3. Winning the Egg Bowl @ Starkville
Chad's face says it all. Beating Mississippi State, their biggest rival, brought Rebel fans nothing but pure joy. Watching the Bulldogs get shut down by the Rebels is always a happiness booster. Not only did we get to keep the famous Egg Bowl trophy in Oxford, we also got to shut up those God-awful cowbells in Starkville. It was a win-win.
Final Score: Cowbell Ringers: 27 Ole Miss: 38
2. Beating Alabama (#back2back)
Final Score: Alabama: 37 Ole Miss: 43
And now for the sweetest victory...............
1. Winning the Sugar Bowl!
After a season full of twists and turns, the Ole Miss Rebels went on to play in The Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. This bowl game had a lot riding on it. It pretty much determined how seriously Ole Miss was going to be viewed as a football team after the long season. All of the preparation that went into this bowl game payed off big time. The Rebels played exceptionally well and proved themselves to be a real contender in the SEC. Winning the Sugar Bowl was the sweetest victory for Ole Miss this past season in my book!
Final Score: OSU: 20 Ole Miss: 48
Although I am very sad that football season has come and gone, I am proud to say that I am an Ole Miss fan. 2015 was an overall good year for the Rebels, and I am looking forward to seeing what next football season brings!
Hotty Toddy,
Tessa
