5 Sweet Victories For Ole Miss Fans

This past football season has definitely been a roller coaster ride for the Rebels. There were many ups and downs, but the season ended with more triumphs than failures. Currently ranked 12th in the College Football Power Rankings, it is safe to say that the program is gaining momentum. Since football season is sadly over for Ole Miss, I thought it would be fun to recount the sweetest wins throughout the season!

5. Beating LSU @ home

After last season's sad loss to the Tigers, the Rebs were more than ready to take on LSU. However, because LSU was 7-0 at one point this past season, it was somewhat daunting. The energy in both The Grove and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was both tense and exciting. Rebel fans and Tiger fans were itching to get the show on the road. Ole Miss ended up beating the Tigers, therefore making life a tad bit sweeter.

Final Score: LSU: 17 Ole Miss: 38

4. Beating Auburn @ AU

Ah, the biggest revenge game of our season. (In my opinion, at least!) I had been looking forward to this game since the heartbreaking ending of last season's matchup. Rebel fans were holding onto a grudge against Auburn, and we craved a win against the Tigers. And thankfully, that was what we got! Watching the Rebels—most specifically Laquon Treadwell—defeat Auburn provided Ole Miss a sense of pride. Ole Miss's fanbase as whole was nothing less than proud of Treadwell for bouncing back from his horrific injury. The win against Auburn was definitely a sweet one.

Final Score: Auburn: 19 Ole Miss: 27

3. Winning the Egg Bowl @ Starkville

Chad's face says it all. Beating Mississippi State, their biggest rival, brought Rebel fans nothing but pure joy. Watching the Bulldogs get shut down by the Rebels is always a happiness booster. Not only did we get to keep the famous Egg Bowl trophy in Oxford, we also got to shut up those God-awful cowbells in Starkville. It was a win-win.

Final Score: Cowbell Ringers: 27 Ole Miss: 38

2. Beating Alabama (#back2back)

If any game was a nail-biter, this game was the winner. Ole Miss fans were constantly told from the moment we defeated Alabama last season that they would get their revenge. The lead up to this game put me in such a nervous frenzy, I couldn't even think about it without psyching myself out! When the day actually came for the long awaited matchup, Rebel fans felt every sort of emotion. I was lucky enough to attend the game in Tuscaloosa with one of my best friends! No matter how old we get, neither of us will forget the intensity within Bryant-Denny Stadium that night. Watching the Rebels defeat the Tide for the second year in a row was a major highlight of the season.

Final Score: Alabama: 37 Ole Miss: 43

And now for the sweetest victory...............

1. Winning the Sugar Bowl!

After a season full of twists and turns, the Ole Miss Rebels went on to play in The Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. This bowl game had a lot riding on it. It pretty much determined how seriously Ole Miss was going to be viewed as a football team after the long season. All of the preparation that went into this bowl game payed off big time. The Rebels played exceptionally well and proved themselves to be a real contender in the SEC. Winning the Sugar Bowl was the sweetest victory for Ole Miss this past season in my book!

Final Score: OSU: 20 Ole Miss: 48

Although I am very sad that football season has come and gone, I am proud to say that I am an Ole Miss fan. 2015 was an overall good year for the Rebels, and I am looking forward to seeing what next football season brings!

Hotty Toddy,

Tessa

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
