5 Signs You're The Mom Of Your Friend Group
Sarah Purnell

Ah yes, our friend group, whether they be our college friends, high school friends, or any other friends we've met along the way, there is an inseparable bond between these humans. We love each other dearly, but the roles we play within these groups are obvious and maybe the most obvious one being the role of mom. Not sure if you fit into this character of the mom? Here are just five signs you are the mom of your friend group...

1. You're always making sure no one is left behind.

Any time you leave the house, you look around to make sure you have everyone that needs to be there, that they have everything they might need along the journey, and that everything is all set. You're usually the most organized out of the group and are reminding everyone to grab that one thing that they would have been doomed without had it been left behind. This especially applies when you go out to the bars with your friends, you constantly feel as though you are herding sheep and making sure you all stay together.

2. You're the person everyone seeks to for everything.

Moms give the best advice and since you are designated mom of your friend group, everyone turns to you in their time of need. Through your wisdom and insightful reasoning, you are always there to support a friend in time of crisis and make sure it is all going to be alright. They call you when something goes wrong, when they need a ride, or just wanna say 'hi'. You even give them mom hugs, too.

3. You can always find everything.

What is it about moms that gives them that power to be able to find anything? Well, either way, you go it! Whenever a friend is panicking over not being able to find their favorite tie-dye shirt, you're instantly able to locate it and make their day a whole lot better. By staying calm and retracing your steps, or thinking back to the last time you saw an item, you're always there to save the day.

4. You're constantly feeding your friends.

Like a mom, you find yourself making your friends dinners, snacks, or muffins in the mornings. You love to make sure your friends are well-taken care of and to top it off, you send them home with left overs.

5. You're their number 1 fan.

Being the friend you are, you are always pushing your friends to improve in their lives, reach their goals, and are the first one by their sides when they do it. Whether it be attending all their sporting events, art shoes, giving them rides to wherever they need, they know you would do anything to see them succeed.

And most importantly, you love each and everyone of your friends with all your heart.

You wouldn't change you're momness for the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
