14 Signs You're A Mommy's Girl

Over the course of our lives, our relationships with our mothers change drastically. When we’re young, we depend on our moms for absolutely everything. As teenagers, we start to resent them when things don’t go our way. And finally, as we get older, we start to realize the significance of everything they’ve ever done for us.

We grow up thinking our moms don’t understand us and never will. But the truth is, they see so much of themselves in us. They do understand.

Here are some signs that you, in fact, are a mommy's girl:

1. Your mom contacts you more than anyone else.

In the morning before class, in between classes, after classes, and before you go to bed at night, you receive at least one phone call and several text messages throughout the day (and you're always excited to hear from her).

2. You contact her more than anyone else.

When something good happens, she's the first one you call. When something bad happens, she's also the first one you call. Really, any insignificant event that occurs throughout the day ... you call her.

3. You don't understand when people tell you "I haven't talked to my mom in days."

Wait, what? You don't talk to your mom all day every day? I can't tell you the last time I went more than twenty-four hours without talking to my mom. Oh yeah ... never.

4. Knowing you can call your mom anytime, day or night, is the most comforting thing in the world.

And being able to tell her everything without fear of judgment is the biggest relief ever.

5. You answer "Who do you admire most," "Who has made the most lasting impact on your life," and "Who do you aspire to be like," with, "My mom." Every time.

There is no doubt in your mind when giving that answer that you want to be just like your mom when you grow up.

6. You totally eat it up when people tell you that you look just like your mom.

It's like, the biggest compliment ever. She's a smoke show.

7. You worry about your mom just as much as she worries about you.

Mom hasn't called me in three hours, is she okay?

8. Your mom sees right through you.

No matter the situation, whether it's the boy you claim you "don't like" or the fact that you didn't really have that new shirt "in the back of your closet." Mother knows all.

9. All your friends love your mom, and she loves all your friends.

My friends and my mom are on a first name basis, they have each others' phone numbers and are definitely friends on Facebook.

10. You ask your mom's opinion about nearly every decision you have to make, and you take her advice super seriously.

From where you should go to college to what shoes you should wear out on a date, her opinion is always a factor in your decisions.

11. You have ditched plans with friends because she wanted you to do something with her.

Hey, sorry guys, can't go to the bar tonight! Mom wants to go shopping.

12. She's more than willing to rescue you from any sticky situation you get yourself into.

You can call her when you're drunk and need a ride. You can call her when your car breaks down and without a second thought, she will be there.

13. She's always willing to help you out financially, too.

Like that time she reluctantly took out her credit card at the cash register and bought me the clothes I really needed.

14. You know that you aren't best friends because you have to be, and you vow to maintain an incredible friendship with your mom for the rest of forever.

At the end of the day, you owe it all to her.

I'm a proud Mommy's girl. That being said, thank you, Mom, for being my best friend and everything in between. I'm thankful to have a soul like yours that I can count on forever. I love you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
