5 Signs That You Are Still Stuck In High School

As much as college is easily the best time of your life, there are always those times where you miss the simplicity of high school - especially when you are stressed out during finals week. However, there is a significant difference between missing it and being stuck in high school.

1. You come home from school almost every weekend.

It's one thing if you live close to home or commute, but if you are making a three or four hour journey home...why?

2. You would much rather prefer to hang out with your high school squad than your college friends.

Old friends or new friends, you love them all. In this case, you feel that no one will ever compare to your high school clique. Everyone you met in college is an acquaintance, and may never meet your friendship expectations.

3. You attend every event held at your high school.

Football games, musicals, basketball games, dance events, Relay for Life, you name it, you're there. Teachers and students forgot that you ever graduated and you still get all of the student discounts on the tickets. Sometimes, you even sit in the student section.

4. You live for social media drama from current high school students.

Whether it is between your rival high school during football season or petty relationship drama, you are following the savage comments as each one is posted, and of course, maybe even supporting each post with a 'like' or two. Depending on the severity of your "stuck in high school syndrome," you may even get involved with the Twitter drama...let's hope that you don't though.

5. During the season of the sports that you were involved in, you attend every single practice.

It's like you never left. The only difference is that this year, they might as well pay you as much as they pay the coach because you basically act like one.

There is also a lesser version of the "stuck in high school syndrome" that almost everyone experiences once in a blue moon: during the season of whatever you were most passionate about in high school, you can't help to reminisce and vicariously live through your friends that are still current high school students. You would do anything to play in one last game, or perform in one last show with your pals. You try to explain to your college besties about whatever you were involved in, but they are just outright confused as to why you feel the way that you do. When you talk too much about the topic, they often just tell you to shut up. Regardless, college is another stepping stone in your life...give it a year or two, and you'll move on from your high school antics!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
