Over the past few years, I've fallen in a deep love with Mother Nature, these are some of the signs I picked up on throughout my journey on this blissful love affair.
1. You Talk About “Her” Constantly
Whether you are at a party or just a few friend hangout, you're the kid who is always talking about your crazy stories from your last hiking trip, or how “amazing the moon looks” that night. When starting a conversation with a stranger it's usually in regards to where the most scenic hiking route is, or where the locals go for secluded bonfires and a solid camping spot away from the big city lights.
2. When You're Not With “Her”, You Wish You Were
If you're a college student and you find yourself in class doodling Pine Trees in the cliff notes, or at work checking your calendar for when the next available opportunity is to get away from the city and indulge in some wide open spaces and fresh air- then you're probably in love.
3. You Work Hard To Keep “Her” Around
You find yourself buying more and more products that are “Eco-Friendly”, or taking a step back before just throwing away plastic bottles. You actually begin to listen in your Biology classes and learn about strides you can take as an individual to help save the planet.
4. People Keep Asking What's Up With You Two
Your friends start to calling you things like hippie, free spirit, flower child, etc. They truly don't understand what has gotten into you, and can see the serious change of heart. However, judgmental as they seem, you are always the friend that they go to for tips on what to see when visiting destinations, or the friend they turn to when they need a dose of spontaneity.
5. You Factor “Her” Into Your Future
You begin to drift away from your average desk job, and search for opportunities in a more nature-driven career, you realize that you'll never feel at home in a big city, and know that you would be fully content in a small cabin in the mountains or next to a lake.
Regardless of your infatuation level with Mother Nature, I think we can all agree that our earth needs us now more than ever- please make strides to be a more “Green” individual today- so that we can all have a more promising tomorrow.
