Growing up in the Catholic Church was always a struggle for my family and I, there was never a strong connection that we experienced with the rituals that were performed Sunday after Sunday. Don’t get me wrong; there is nothing wrong with this religion, but personally, I was not bettering myself as a person from sitting in those pews, reciting the same prayers over and over. That is what led my family to Lifepoint Church in 2012, and my life was never the same and here is why:
1. Lifepoint Accepts Everyone
Whether you’re white or black, tall or skinny, religious or atheist, Lifepoint Church welcomes anyone and everyone to come and get to know Jesus. Our Pastors Brad and Stephanie White encourage us to reach out to people who have never gone to church in their life or even those who have had a bad church experience and have give up on it. Lifepoint is a family of diverse people and that’s what makes it special.
2.Modern Teaching Of The Bible
At Lifepoint, the Bible is taught in “series”, which makes it more appealing to those who attend. An example of this would be the series that just ended, called “Help Us Heal”, in which Pastor Brad addressed why our world has been divided because of different kinds of racism. Starting the weekend of August 6th and 7th, a new series called “Major Key” will start and teach on what purpose our lives have and why we matter, this will go all the way through Labor Day weekend! The Bible is used to be able to relate what we are going through now, to what is written in script, whether it is relationships, hardships, or even finances. This makes it easy for us to understand the Bible, instead of repeated verses we don’t understand for an hour.
3. Plenty Of Ways To Get Involved
The “A-Team” at Lifepoint is the volunteer army, in which there are multiple serve teams that you can join. Parking team, working with children, greeting new people, and working behind the scenes are just a few of the options that Lifepoint offers. Currently, I serve in “Big Blast Studios” where I take care and help children learn about Jesus, while their parents are in the service. You meet so many people and are just surrounded by positive energy, it’s hard to resist joining a team!
4. Family Night And LifeGroups
Saturday’s have been family night this summer at Lifepoint! A free movie showing and free food after the Saturday night service has been bringing people in like crazy. A night to enjoy with your family and church friends, just watching a movie isn’t a typical church activity, but this brings people together and that’s what matters. Also, there are LifeGroups that are available for all types of people- men, women, couples, even USF students! - where you can connect with other people at the church and bond over your common interests while building a family there. These groups make life easier because it keeps you from being alone and always have people to count on.
5. Give Back To The Community
Saturday, August 20th, Lifepoint is doing an “I Love Tampa” serve Saturday, where multiple teams of people are going to be sent out to do different acts of community service like serving breakfast for the Tampa Police Department, cleaning up Hope’s Children Home, help restore Habitat for Humanity, and more. This is an amazing way to give back to the community that we live in and love. Not only this, but we are putting together a massive donation of backpacks filled with school supplies for children in need in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. Be apart of this amazing church and help give back to those in need!
