Super Bowl 50 is sure to be a great game for all those Denver and Carolina fans but for the rest of us, we might need a little persuasion to turn on the TV and sit down to watch some good ole American football. So here’s five reasons to convince you it’s worth it.
1. Who doesn’t love the food that comes with football?
I mean seriously, think about it. Whether you’re a wings person, a taco person, a chili person, or a pulled pork person, there’s something for you. Grab a plate, sit on the couch, and don’t get up until you need a second serving. But enough about the entrees, the true beauty is in the appetizers. Chips accompanied with guac, salsa, queso or my personal favorite: Buffalo Chicken Dip. The foods associated with the Super Bowl are bound to make your day. So, even though I’ll be mourning the fact that Tom Brady isn’t going for his fifth ring, I encourage you to join me in the celebration of good food and good company.
2.The commercials are legendary.
Now, while you’re eating those delicious foods, you can focus your attention on the commercials. Whether you love football, or you hate it, the commercials will entice you. Even if your team isn’t competing I guarantee you can find some pleasure in the commercials provided by all different companies for all different causes. So sit back and watch the game, or don’t, but make sure to turn your attention to the commercials. For once, commercial breaks could prove to be the highlight of your TV watching experience.
3. Beyonce.
Ah yes, the leader of this great nation. I have no doubt that we will all be blown away by the Queen B herself. Even if you aren’t interested in the men tackling each other, I highly recommend taking the time out of your day to watch this sure-to-be unforgettable performance. It’s not even her show but she’ll make it her show. No offense Coldplay but Beyonce has won over America so step aside and let the Queen do what she does best: Shock, Entertain, and Amaze us with her flawlessness. If only we could all wake up like that.
4. Also Bruno Mars and Coldplay.
As if Beyonce isn’t impressive on her own, add on Bruno Mars and Coldplay and you’ve got an all-star line-up. Bruno would catch a grenade for ya so the least you can do is watch Cam Newton and Peyton Manning battle it out as an opening act for him. The halftime show is an event in and of itself. Even if you aren't interested in the teams, why say no to Bruno Mars and Coldplay?
5. Peace out Peyton.
Being a New Englander, I’ve grown up a Patriots fan. I’ve been raised to dislike number 18 first on the Colts and now on the Broncos. As much as I wish Brady could have taken him down, I’m undoubtedly curious to see how this quarterback’s potentially last career game will end.
So, here’s five reasons to watch Super Bowl 50 even if you’re a disappointed Pats fan like me. Sit back, grab a cold (age appropriate) drink and enjoy the piles of food, the commercials, the halftime show and maybe some football too.
