Since I am from Minnesota, it’s a large stereotype that everyone loves hockey. I fit this stereotype to a T. My entire life I have never been more than ten minutes from a rink, and worked at a hockey superstore for over two years. Since I am from Minnesota, you could assume I am a Wild fan and you could not be more correct. I absolutely LOVE the Wild. As it’s now time for the Stanley Cup, I want to give you five reasons I’m routing for our great team...
1) ZACH PARISE
I mean, have you seen him? He’s absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous and a wonderful homegrown athlete. He’s a powerhouse out on the ice and is a team player. Even though we are in the middle of our first series against Dallas right now and he isn’t playing, he was able to provide a lot for the 2015-16 seasons
2) Great rivalries
From the Chicago Blackhawks to the Colorado Avalanche, those are just some of the wonderful games to watch. The fans at either arena absolutely love the battle and cheer for their team. Those are the games where everyone in the family, or at the dorms, all crowds into one room at one TV to watch those games. This season, we swept the Blackhawks and let’s just say; I’m an extremely proud fan. Games like those are so much more fun when you have an intense rivalry.
3) Environment of the Xcel Energy Center
If you haven’t been to the X, you’re missing out. There is the lower deck, club level, and upper deck all available for seating. It’s always very fun-filled and loud. Everyone is happy, families are everywhere, the food is wonderful. You just can’t beat the traditions of the Xcel Energy Center.
4) Playoff ready team for consecutive years
What’s the point of having a team if they never actually make it to the playoffs? We have been a team for just starting the 16th year and we have been in the playoffs 8 times. That’s a pretty good statistic if you ask me. Also, four of those appearances have been in the last four years. Last year, we made it to the second round where we lost to the Blackhawks after beating the St. Louis Blues.
