There is nothing more that bugs me than people who complain; negativity just seems to stream from their mouths constantly without an off button. What is the point of complaining? Why is there a need to be negative about every little thing that has went wrong in your life? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Personally, my life has been full of many ups and downs— truly a rollercoaster. Things always seem to be going great, and then suddenly, the tracks swerve and tilt toward the ground, taking me with them. Life is hard. Life can be cruel. Things happen and people change. Has that gotten me down? No way. Why should I let those downward slopes define me? I shouldn’t. My downfalls are a part of who I am, but making them a priority in my life won’t do any good.

Here are just a couple of reasons why staying positive in life is the key to a better life:

1. It moves you forward

Being stuck in the negative literally keeps you there - you can’t seem to just move past anything. Positivity leads to moving on from the negative in life and looking toward the future. There is another chapter in your life meant to be opened, don’t be stuck on one paragraph.

2. It helps you grow

The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn from your mistakes. Everyone goes through hard times and mistakes, but life is a learning experience. No one is perfect and by staying positive through the worst of times only makes your stronger. Your strength is admirable and only helps you get through in the future.

3. Positivity = Confidence

Confidence in yourself goes hand in hand with staying positive. Your self esteem can only go up by keeping a positive attitude, so what's the risk? Don't let the bad times define your mood and who you are. Everyone has bumps down the road, but those bumps never break them down. Make your life worthwhile and believe in yourself.

4. People look up to you

Again, confidence, people. Definitely the most liked quality a person can have. Positivity radiates through people, and spreading the happiness you bring will only bring joy to those around you. Others will admire you for the energy you bring, and will look to you for guidance in the tough times.

5. Your life is not so bad after all

Being positive helps you realize that everyone goes through hard times and that's just the way life is. Always knowing you will get through the struggles and life's toughest curve balls thrown your way makes life worthwhile. Believing in yourself and believing that everything happens for a reason; that is what gets you through. God only gives his toughest battles to the strongest people. Your struggles don't define you.

Positivity can go a long way. My life motto has been through positivity, and it has only made me a stronger, more successful, more determined, better person than I was before. People have asked me, "How are you so happy all of the time?" or "How do you get through this? You are so wise." Well, a lot of the time I hide behind the positivity radiating from my face. I am not saying that I never get sad or emotional, because it definitely happens; and it definitely should happen. However, focusing on the negatives of all the struggles you have been through just makes life stressful and hopeless. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing you can change about the bad things that have occurred is the way you go about the situation and handle it. Positivity is key in anything.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
