Over spring break, I had a few greatly needed girls nights with some friends from high school. With all of us being busy in college these days, it can be hard to just set aside some time to relax and reconnect with your friends. When I am stressed out or having a tough time, I always look to my girls for help and support, especially when it involves boy drama. After having a girls night during break and feeling so much better after having spent some time with them, I came to the conclusion that girls nights, or just time with your girlfriends, is essential for these five reasons.
5. Excuse to eat junk food.
whether your favorite snacks are chips, pizza, ice cream, or just having a glass of wine, all are acceptable at girls night! During girls night, there is no such thing as “counting calories.” Rather, you get to enjoy your tasty treats in good company and should not feel bad about it!
4. Watch chick flicks.
This one mainly depends upon you and your friends favorite genre of movie, but chick flicks or romantic comedies are the stereotypical choice at girls night. But whatever you and your friends choose, it is always nice to just put the phones down and pop in a movie you can all enjoy. Its a time of relaxation!
3. Time to pamper yourself.
Even if you’re not too big into makeup, a nice face mask is always a nice way to treat yourself! You get to take care of your skin while being able to take funny pictures with your friends because lets be honest, everyone looks ridiculous with one on! A mani/pedi never hurt anyone either!
2. Gossip/vent.
When it comes to talking about anything and everything, you can always count on your girls to hear you out. While they say that it is not right to gossip, let’s face it, we all do it. That's why it is nice to catch up what with your friends to hear and exchange stories that way you are caught up on all the recent events and happenings. Gossiping is when the conversation is fun, but sometimes it's not so fun when there is drama in your life with other friends, family, or boyfriends. It can be hard to talk about these topics because they usually aren't exactly lighthearted, but it is good to have someone to talk to. Your girls show you support and can offer you advice. We stick together to help get each other through anything!
1. No judgement.
If there was an official dress code for girls night it would most likely be along the lines of sweatpants, t-shirts, hair in messy bun, and no makeup. When hanging out with your closest friends, there is no need to impress anyone. You can be your complete self and say whatever crazy things come to your mind without being judged or ask whatever weird questions you have that you would be afraid to ask anyone else. So even though everyone’s schedule may be busy, it is important to make time for your girls, or just friends in general, even if its just grabbing a quick coffee! Its good for yourself, them, and your friendships.
