There are so many ways to spend a weekend with your significant other, but not all are created equally! Getting outside has been one of the focuses of how my s.o. and I spend our time. We love hiking, camping, boating, and just taking walks together. Here are some reasons camping is the ideal couple's vacation.

You can go anywhere.

From New Jersey to California and everywhere in between, there are State Parks and Forests, National Parks and Forests, with campgrounds, backpacking trails, and so many opportunities for adventure. These lands are protected by the government, not only for our enjoyment but for the local ecosystems as well. If you want to see a new, beautiful place for not a lot of money, get on the State Parks website and see what they have to offer near and far.

You get real alone time.

Unless you're hitting the Grand Canyon's lookout points at the height of the season, you're not going to encounter a crowd anywhere in a State or National park. There's a lot of privacy and a lot of alone time. There's an interesting dynamic when you are depending on your partner as much as they are depending on you for cooking, cleaning, safety, and conversation. It's a wonderful way to get back to what makes you so happy to be with them, without the noise of everyday life. You won't encounter very many other people on your trip, and you probably won't have cell phone service, which means you can just focus on each other.

There's no rush.

The world is your oyster when you're camping with your s.o. The only times you need to remember are sun-up and sun-down, and everything else is up to you. Breakfast can take 2 hours, kayaking can take 3 hours, your hike can take 6 hours, its completely your call! If you want to eat a s'more at 9 p.m. and then snuggle in for the night, no one will tell you no. If you want to stay up until 2 a.m. talking while the giant fire you built dies down, do it! Everything is on your time. It's a great way to reset your body and get back in tune with the natural rhythm of things. Eat when you're hungry. Rest when you're tired. Hold hands on your hike even if it makes you slower. Stop and smell the roses. The trail's not going anywhere.

Photos are the best souvenirs.

When you come home from a trip with a phone and camera card full of photos, you get to remember that trip forever! My fridge is covered with photo magnets, and my shelves are lined with photo books, all from different trips. Not only will you find your next profile photo, but you'll be building a library of memories to share for the rest of your life.

You grow, together.

The best way to learn about your significant other is to share experiences with them. How do they react to things when they're tired and sunburned? How do they like their marshmallows toasted? How patient are they with learning new things? You'll learn about yourself, too. Do you need a few minutes of alone time when you wake up, or are you ready to greet the day and your s.o. right away? You'll learn things together. How many minutes does a fire-baked potato need to be cooked? Who is the better camp cook? It takes effort from both of you to make camping a successful experience. Together you will work together to make sure things run smoothly, and that you can both stay safe for your whole trip. Who knew checking for ticks could be fun?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
