Welcome to Grand Canyon University. A small, private Christian school with academics and faith-based relationships on the brain. Grand Canyon University doesn't have the largest population of students to ever roam around a college campus. Often everyone you meet is taken, engaged or married.
Fellow students have described their freshman year to me as "the dating Hunger Games," finding all the valuable options before someone else steps in and takes them away from you. This does carry on throughout different stages in college. The first day of class you often scout out the potential options. If you are cursed with a small major as well, it's unlikely you will even see a new face in your classes.
When you are single and you do plan on dating in college, you have only a few rare windows of opportunity to catch another single person's attention.
Of course dating is not everyone's intention in college and there is nothing wrong with that. If you live that happy, fun single life, you mostly likely have heard your fair share of pick-ups toward you or others. As I've stated before GCU is not a big school, the repeat methods of how people get the attention of others can be entertaining or annoying.
Whether you're testing the dating waters at GCU or trying to find your soulmate, these are the pick-up lines that everyone else has used on campus. It seems to be working out for all of them, so give one a shot:
1. "Hey girl, want to ride my long board?"
2. "You put the stud in Bible Study."
3. "I'll take you to Canyon 49 for dinner."
4. "Do you want to help me 'find my purpose'?"
5. "I'll walk you to your next class."
6. "Here, I brought you some GCBC."
7. "Do you want to go camping with me and my friends this weekend? Or when we go next weekend? Or the weekend after?"
8. "God was showing off when he created you."
9. *At Thursday Night Karaoke* "THIS SONG IS FOR YOU!"
10. "Hey girl, I heard Jesus called you. Mind if I do the same?"
11. "Before the game tonight, do you want to get dinner on Lopes Way?"
12. "Can I walk to chapel with you?"
13. "Is the Holy Spirit burning inside of you or are you just hot?"
14. "Do you want to go to the Gathering together tonight?"
15. "I was thinking we could wear matching purple shirts to the game tonight."
16. "Do you want to go hiking today? Or tomorrow? Or the next day? We're always going hiking."
No matter if you get the coffee date or land flat on your face like a freshman with their first long board, pick yourself up and don't be afraid to try again. I'm sure you'll also be posting your "couple goals" hiking, camping, and basketball game photos on your social media in no time.
