It's almost New Year's. We have planned where we are going to be, who we are going to kiss (mentally), and what fabulous outfit we will wear. So it's easy to forget about making a New Year's resolution! Let's be honest, most of the time we make them, spend the first week attempting to complete them, and then give up or forget about it. Try and make a difference when creating this years, and make it realistic! Here are five ideas to get you started when making your resolutions.
1.Stay in contact with your family.
This is something that everyone wants to think they are doing enough of, but in reality our lives get so busy we tend to forget about the ones who are so important to us. Take walking to class as an example; instead of zoning out listening to music, give your grandparents a call. They live for that stuff -- what else do they have to do?2.Improve your overall GPA.
This can be a realistic goal if you keep it in mind. It’s easy to go through the simple motions of school. Wake up, do last-minute homework, show up to class, maybe skip a few, and so on. Try and tackle one specific area such as skipping class. Only allow yourself one skip per class. Showing up to every class will improve the quality of work you put into your class since you will probably care more.3.Spend less money on fast food
. Think about how many days of the week you spend eating out. Most likely more than you are proud of. If you try and limit this, not only will you improve your spending habits but also your health. Some New Year’s resolutions are too general, which makes them harder to follow through with. By focusing on one specific area revolving around health and money, you can achieve more!4.Keep up with a weekly planner.
A popular resolution for people is to stay more organized in the new year. Think specifics regarding this. Keeping a weekly planner can never be a bad idea, but it definitely takes time and effort. If you keep up with it for the first month, it will be more likely that you stick with it. Want to know why? Because it actually helps. That’s why.5.Read.
This may seem like a silly resolution, but I promise it could be so cool! Think about those random subjects that you wish you were a genius about. Go to the library or half-price bookstore and get a book on a time in history or the life of a famous person. It should be something you are genuinely interested in, or you will not end up reading it. Not only will you learn, but it will force you to set aside technology. Instead of spending that 15 minutes before bed on your phone, read your book! The new year means a chance for a fresh start. Don't just say you're going to make improvements; follow through with them. You will be proud of yourself come 2017 (wow, we are getting old). Good luck sticking to your resolutions! I know I'll need it.
