It's that time of year again everyone! New Years is approaching and along with this time of year comes a new list of resolutions we'll be sure to not actually complete! So time to take some common resolutions and try to make them actually plausible!
Let's turn "I'm going to work out everyday and lose 10 pounds" to "cutting back on some junk food and maybe going to the gym at least once in awhile."
Every year with this resolution it seems we all start out strong and our motivation slowly fades. Start out small, like they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day."
Time to change "I'm going to stop procrastinating with all of my work" to "maybe I'll start things the day before they're due instead of the day of."
Again... baby steps. Saying you'll get things done really far in advanced is a really optimistic goal to set, so try to slowly increase the number of days you get things done in advanced.
"I will pick up a hobby and learn something new" can turn to "getting back into a hobby you once loved."
Let's be realistic, when it comes time to actually learn something new we always push it off. Rekindling your love for something you once really enjoyed is far easier than learning something completely new.
"I won't have as much to drink this weekend" can switch to "just giving it your best to remember the night and not drunk text half of your contacts."
Baby steps...
"I'm going to start spending less money" should change to "attempting to cut back the number of times you eat out and go out for drinks on a weekly basis."
You're lying to yourself if you think the reason you aren't broke is from the amount of unnecessary food and alcohol you consume.
"I will try to be less stressed" should be made more specific..."maybe a glass of wine and some time to wind down at the end of each day?"
You know what they say... a glass of wine a day keeps your troubles away. Okay, maybe they don't actually say that but seriously you should reserve some time for yourself at the end of the day to do something you enjoy whether it's watching some Netflix or hanging out with friends.
