1. Mistakes happen.
Life has a funny way of inserting a plethora of mistakes at the worst times in the wrong places; we’ve all been there. We’re all too familiar with feeling like you’re on top of the world one week, and rolling down a hill to what seems like a bottomless pit.
There’s a reason for those mistakes: for those days that it seems no matter how hard you try, you feel as if you’ll never get it right. Each time you feel falling to the bottomless pit, you are growing. You learn from your mistakes, from the toughest trials in your life only to come back the next day better, faster, and stronger.
You wouldn’t be the person you are today without those mistakes your heart and mind has learned from.
2. You will always impact people’s lives.
The person you just complimented on their pink, silky, long-sleeved top, you just made their day. That long lost friend you decided to give an hour long phone call is now beaming with the memories that you were both reminiscing. Your roommate who was crying last night is forever thankful you took her out for dinner and listened to her story.
In perspective, It’s the little things that will always matter—when you feel like you’re sometimes just not enough, you are enough.
You are a best friend, a daughter or a son, a sister or a brother. You are important to someone, and you are loved.
3. Enjoy the moment.
It’s 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon and you’re grabbing coffee with the four of your best friends in a small cafe downtown. Laughter is shared, jokes are tossed around, and stories are told. You feel like you could stay in this moment forever, without a care in the world; it’s little moments like these that make you the happiest. Sure, you have 15 other things on your plate—why worry about that in this moment?
Simply enjoy it. Enjoy the fact that you are surrounded by people you love and who love you, with a great cup of coffee, and a beautiful sunset peaking out from the windows. Life is beautiful.
4. Don’t dwell on what is done, focus on a better tomorrow.
Okay, so let’s say you didn’t do amazing on your first exam, or you didn’t quite exactly get the job you wanted. The most important and efficient thing you can do is move on, and work for a better tomorrow.
What is in the past is in the past, and you can’t change it; unless you had a time machine (I wish life worked that way). However, if life worked that way, what would be the fun in finding out what the future holds?
If you didn’t get the job you wanted the first time, the reason may be is for you to work harder to achieve an opportunity that is even a thousand times better than what you wanted in the first place.
Everything within life happens for a reason, and, if something doesn’t work out in your favor, relax. It can only go up from here.
5. Stay power hungry. You can and you will.
“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place” —Nora Roberts.
Although we wish there was one, there is never an easy answer or path in life. Strive for the finish line, and take that big leap of faith. Set your goals, keep your eyes on them, and you will succeed.
