They say that life is nothing like television. People seem to think that everyone believes that life is going to be like a sitcom, filled with slap stick humor, heart felt moments and every once and a while a musical number to be performed by the main character. Well if you take out the musical number, college pretty much is a failed CBS sitcom minus the cheesy dialogue. College is supposed to be Legend, wait for it...
It’s been almost a year since the CBS comedy, How I Met Your Mother, closed it’s door and pretty much pissed off all of America….seriously you make fans wait eight years just for Ted to end up with Robyn. But enough about the crappy ending and on to the actual show. HIMYM had a parade of characters that everyone could point and say “they remind me of (insert name here)”
Face it, we all know someone in college who will grow up to be just like one of these people. Hell, they might even be them now...don't believe me? Well, suit up as we take a look at the 5 college friends who are doppelgängers of cast.
Ted Mosby
Of course you have a college friend who is exactly like Ted Evelyn Mosby. He’s the one who has his whole life planned out even down to where his car will be parked in the driveway (hint: it’s in the upper right corner close less then two feet from the garage). He also is a hopeless romantic who believes in doing grand gestures for girls. He's the one at the bar who buys girls drinks and always goes home alone.
To top it all off, he believes that every girl he dates is “the one” but more then likely ends up being the dumpy rather then the dumper. Not all Ted's traits are bad; he’s loyal, smart, a little…ok a lot corny and always has your back...when he's not boring you to death with their exaggerated stories. If only he didn't say "I love you" to every girl, he'd be a really cool guy.
Robin Scherbatsky
Oh Robin, what can’t we say about the Robin friend in your group. No really, I mean they probably have so many secrets of their past that they never let anyone in close enough to hear them..and trust me they’re embarrassing. The Robin of your friends is probably the one you’ll find out on thursday nights, confident enough to go up to a guy and ask him for a drink rather then sit and wait in the corner. She’s sarcastic, charming, probably comes from a quiet family and can drink any guy under the table.
She may not be the most attractive girl, but she’ll be more then just some house wife and is always down to go out and have some fun. She’s just the type a girl you want when trying to find the “Mrs. Right” in your life. But don’t try to ask her out, she will probably never settle down.
Marshall Eriksen
Marshall is probably the most diverse friend you have. He probably was a really good athlete and grew up in a huge family that lived around sports. He also is probably scared to talk to women which is why he’s either been dating his girlfriend since high school or orientation week of freshman year. He’s smart and probably will go on to be something successful like a Banker or Lawyer but could probably make it as a comedian as well.
He takes everything over the top, including his emotions and probably is the guy who sips on girly drinks when you go out. He’s pretty much a basic white girl but is definitely the guy you want on your side if anything happens to you.
Lilly Aldrin
Lilly is usually the girlfriend of one of your friends and pretty much is the mom of the group. She's always around to give you advice when the time is right and probably is the only reason why you haven’t dropped out of college and joined the military when life begins to stress you out. She's also the one who will take your crap with a smile on her face.
It’s hard to picture her without your buddy by her side and it would be even harder to choose which side you’d be on if they got in a fight. She’s tough as nails but can be a girly girl at times. She tells it like it is but doesn’t try to see anyone upset. She may be a pushover at times but if you make her mad enough, you might go missing for the next four weeks, (you’ll get that if you watched the show).
Barney Stinson
Yes there's a Barney lurking around within the group of your friends. He’s smooth talking with girls, always is dressed to impress and probably comes from a lot of money that he can drink whatever he wants at the bar. He’s clearly in love with himself and probably thinks everything he does is Legen...wait for it….
The truth of the matter is, the Barney of your group probably has the most wisdom of anyone out there. His childhood probably wasn’t a happy one and he probably still is a little nerdy and has a hobby that only a nine year old would like. Not only that, but he probably has been hurt by someone that he believes in silly theories. Still, you always need that friend to be the life to be the reason you actually aren't sitting at home watching Netflix.
