It is finally the holiday season, and with that comes hours of gift-wrapping. It is easy to go the traditional route and buy store-bought paper, but it really shows your loved ones or friends how much you care when you are a little more creative.
These ideas are simple and easy, but can be personalized just like the present for each receiver. Here are my picks for the most simple and creative gift-wrapping ideas for this holiday season.
1. Chalk wrapping

The way crisp, white chalk looks on a black chalkboard is so striking. Now your presents can have the same look, but in a cleaner fashion. No dusty, white chalk for this project, only black craft paper from your local craft store and white paint pens. Feel free to be a creative as you wish with your doodles. You can make them personalized notes, Christmas shapes and images or geometric lines. The wrapping paper is now your easel. Get creative!
2. Maps

This can be a great way to wrap a present for someone that loves to travel, or wishes to travel in the future. It would also be perfect if you were giving your loved one plane tickets or travel gear. All it takes is maps collected on the road, or bought at the store, if you want a specific location. You can also print them off of the Internet, but the paper maps are made of is thick, so it works best for wrapping.
3. Color Me

This wrapping style is a great way for your friend or loved one to get creative. It may look childish, but it can be fun for all ages to create doodles on the paper before or after opening. I’m not the only one who still asks for crayons at restaurants, right? For this wrapping, you need white craft paper and crayons, as well as a stylish type of tape to hold them onto the present. Scotch or washi tape may work best, but you can use any type you find.
4. Monogramed

Who doesn’t like to see a present with his or her name drawn on it? This is a very cheap way to add simple flair to a present. All you need is red ribbon of your choosing, brown craft paper and a gold paint pen or Sharpie. You can simply wrap the present then draw your friend or loved one’s name on the box. You can even be more creative and draw their monogram or initials. It truly makes the presents under your tree look cohesive and neat.
5. Toys

This is such a nostalgic way to incorporate toys into your wrapping. For your younger sibling, cousin or child this is a great way to use a child’s favorite item and incorporate it into the wrapping to give them a sneak peek, or get them excited from the get go. You can use toy cars, plastic animals, Legos or Barbie’s to decorate the outside. Just make sure the background corresponds with the toy!
A fun way to decorate presents together is to host a present wrapping party with food and drinks to get everyone in on the action together. This also helps the painstakingly boring process of wrapping presents that much more fun. Here is a great example from designlovefest.com
