As a we freshman beginning my college journey I was extremely nervous. I had no idea what to expect, other than good food, but that was a lie.

Now entering into my senior year, I can't help but look back and realize how everything is different. Even things that I was positive would not change, have definitely changed.

I know, I know, change seems scary. I don't want to deter any of the newcomers by making this change seem like a bad thing. The truth is, you have four crucial years ahead of you, and things are bound to change anyway. But these four years involve a lot of growing up.

You will better understand yourself, other people, and you just might have the time of your life in the process.

So without further ado, these are 5 things that will change between your four years at college.

1. Appearance

I started college wearing makeup and contacts, I french braided my hair into a bun , and I wore a boring t-shirt and jeans almost everyday.

So the change here gets a little tricky. First of all, as the college life progresses you will stop caring so much about what you look like. You're there to learn, and eventually putting in so much effort takes away from the much needed energy for school work. The good thing is though, when you do care about what you look like, you know how to look a thousand times better than what you did before.

After all, you have a lot more experience with makeup and fashion under your belt.

2. Major

You might think you know what to do, and some freshman might actually continue to pursue that initial idea. But most people will change their major 3 times before they get it right.

This goes with getting to know your interests better. You find what you're good at and what you want to spend time getting paid to do.

3. Food Preference

Say hello to your new life where Ramen is your best friend. When you're not so used to the crappy food, your life is miserable. But when you're a senior and your parents stop sending you so may care packages, you'll take what you can afford... 20 cent soup.

Especially if the dining hall menu says "sushi." A college senior knows it's better to starve than to ride that train. Freshmen, here's your warning.

4. Spending Habits

Either you start out spending a lot and finally learn to limit yourself, or you start with spending hardly anything and work your way up.

The truth is, you learn how to save your money either way in the long run. Just don't let a credit card get the best of you. That's right, you'll probably be getting your first credit card (surprise).

5. Friends

When you first come to college, you probably just want people to like you so you try to become friends with anyone in sight. Luckily, as time goes on you realize a few things.

You can't make people like you, some people aren't worth your time, and you never have to change yourself for another person's approval. This isn't middle school.

Of course, there are several other things that change when you're away. Feel free to comment with anything I missed.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
