41 Things I Really Learned Freshman Year

1) Recruitment week sucks.

2) If you're from out of state like me, Bid Day isn't much better.

3) But I really did find my sisters and some of my best friends in the process.

4) The friends you make in the first few weeks, will not necessarily be your friends for the rest of college.

5) it's required that you were shoes to a fraternity party.

6) That being said, invest in shoes you don't mind getting dirty, all the time.

7) Puppies will become like diamonds, small and precious.

8) The boy who says he doesn't want a relationship right now, just doesn't want one with you. Don't waste your time.

9) Your friends see things in people that you can't, listen to them.

10) Game days are awesome, just not being a Game Day Date and standing up for 6+ hours.

11) Take lots of pictures, you'll be glad you did.

12) Your big will become someone to confide in, take advantage of her.

13) Working out is a must, because let's face it, we don't all still have the metabolism we had when we were 13.

14) Studying in college is way different than 'studying' in high school.

15) You actually have to go to class and work for your grades.

16) Save money because your car will get towed, your phone will break, or something else will happen where you'll be glad you had money to fix it.

17) Parking on campus sucks.

18) You can't stay away from your favorite one or two fraternities.

19) While you have your sisters, some of those guys will become like your brothers.

20) You don't have to buy a new outfit or dress for every weekend or event. That's what friends and roommates are for. Sharing is caring :)

21) The first time you go home, your brother is likely to be bigger than you.

22) And when you come back from home, don't bring everything you own and the kitchen sink back with you. It will just make move out day even harder.

23) Life will happen and eventually catch up to you, so it's okay to go home when you need a little break.

24) You will get seriously sick once or twice. It's unavoidable. So be prepared.

25) You will essentially become a fireman because of all the fire drills you have, especially while sleeping.

26) You will fall, literally and figuratively.

27) You will do dumb things in public and learn to become comfortable with yourself real quick.

28) Late night cravings are a thing, so keep healthy food around.

29) Crawfish are spicy.

30) You don't always have to go out. Some of the best nights are staying in and watching Netflix with friends.

31) And Netflix will distract you one or twice.. Or a few times. Be conscious of it.

32) If you're having a bad day, Chrisley Knows Best, is really a great way to make you feel better.

33) Second semester is the time to make up for your first semester grades.

34) Don't get a fish. Or any other animal. It will smell in your tiny dorm room and is too much work for you no matter what you say.

35) College will test the strength of your high school relationships. Hold on to those that matter.

36) Visit your high school friends at their colleges, It's a great way to stay in someone's life by learning what they're doing now.

37) When you're out of state, going home for Christmas and summer break will be a challenge to leave everyone.

38) Visit your new friends in their hometowns. It's the best way to learn about them.

39) You have to show people you care to keep them around. Make an effort. College friends don't know you like your high school friends do.

40) You will grow in so many aspects. Be aware of it and grateful for it.

41) You will become so much closer with your family. Be thankful for it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
