A New Year's Resolution is a tricky thing. Every year we pick some crazy, unattainable goal in an attempt to fulfill the desire we all have to be some perfect individual. But, after two weeks of stress and no results, many of us quit. New Year's Resolutions tend to be a consistent joke between those that do not make them. You won't lose thirty five pounds in two months by going to the gym twice a week. You won't stop buying soda from the vending machine by not changing anything about your routine. The key to making these resolutions your life is to accept them as that, rather than short term steps that will lead you to your perfect life.
1. Make your resolutions build-able, measurable, and realistic
If you're trying to lose weight, attach that to a number, whether it's pounds, inches, or how you rate your confidence level.
2. Have a plan laid out to help you reach that goal.
Plan ahead your day or routine to help you reach your goal. Maybe plan a workout routine or enroll in a Zumba class!
3. Change something everyday.
Whether it's going to the gym in the morning, only buying healthy food at the grocery store, or not taking that route home from work with all the fast food restaurants nearby, try your best to change something different during your day, every day.
4. Don't expect results immediately.
You aren't going to get that "perfect beach body" in two weeks, it takes dedication.
Just stay positive and hopeful. If there is anything that 2016 has taught us, it's that there is no where to go but up.
