4 Reasons Why Alabama is the Kanye West of College Football

Over the years, Alabama has received a lot of criticism from fans of other teams in college football. It seems ESPN cant get enough of us, our fans are the greatest, and we just cant stop proclaiming God-like status in the arena of College football. I know I will get a lot of backlash for this, so let me just come out and say it; throughout history, Alabama has been one of the best teams in College football. If your opinion varies from mine, great. Do I care? Not really. (Kanye voice: “Nuh uh you cant tell me nothin'!")

Even if you're not an Alabama fan, you cannot deny the strength of our program. The criticism we get everyday is taken with a grain of salt, which has led me to believe that our reputation, awards and countless draft picks give us a slight resemblance to the somewhat notorious, Kanye West.

1. People love to hate us.

From our 15 national titles to our Amazing history and head coach, Nick Saban, Alabama fans cant even hold a conversation with anyone else in the SEC. Scratch that, anyone who even moderately enjoys college football. The conversation usually starts with, “So, you're an Alabama fan? Gosh I hate Nick Saban." To which I respond, “Ohh, you hate Saban?" What did Saban do to you? He works 24/7 on helping his players and the community alike benefit from Alabama Football. Likewise people look at Kanye and hate him for no apparent reason. Is your name Taylor Swift? Ohh its not? Okay then Kanye West has not directly impacted you in a negative way.

2. We have countless awards.

I'm not going to go into details, but last time I checked, 15 national titles and number two for most NFL players currently in the league isn't something your everyday college football program has accomplished. Kanye West also has countless awards (124 to be exact), which is why he's become so cocky over the years. When Alabama haters come around, I take a lesson from Yeezus and, “Say to the critics, 'Kiss the ring. Bow Down.'"

3. We are always stealing the spotlight.

I'll admit, when a story breaks about Alabama, you can find it on ESPN, ESPN 2, the SEC Network and the internet. But sports reporters have a limited amount of information to draw on in the fall because there isn't anything else for them to report on. College football is the only thing that matters during that season. Kanye also tends to steal the spotlight doing things like interrupting award ceremonies and recently “pretending" to interrupt award ceremonies.

4. We're extremely passionate about our team.

The only thing we love more than saying “Roll Tide" is “Nick Saban." You can't blame us for worshipping Saban because he's done so much for our program. We love Saban and our team as much as Kanye West loves Kanye West.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
