While everyone is enjoying their summer sleeping in, staying up late, and generally just laying around, there's the rest of us who are unfortunately forced to work this summer. This is by no means a rant against getting a summer job but the downsides that come along with it. Here are 4 reasons why working in the summer can be downright awful.
1. Hello to your old alarm clock.
Yes, that same alarm clock that you needed last semesters for those early morning classes. Who would've thought you'd need it this soon. While I do enjoy my summer job, I absolutely hate getting up before the sun shines.
2. Goodbye, late-night binge watches.
I usually take the summer months to catch up on watching movies and tv shows I put off during the school year. Since my new job, however, I either must watch it within the few hours I get back home, or the show will be watching me.
3. You're always too tired for anything.
If you have a very demanding job that mentally and even physically exhausts you, then this one's for you. My lack of a proper weekend propels me to to do absolutely nothing when I do get days off. And I spend those precious times either catching up on YT videos or sleep.
4. It no longer feels like summer.
I love summer, it's a time for relaxation and to enjoy being outdoors again. But when you have the responsibilities of a job with long hours the summer starts to feel less like a break away from college.
