30 Songs Every Frat Party Needs

If you’re in college, you’ve probably been to a couple of frat parties here and there. Obviously, every night is different: different frat guys, different dynamic and each time you go out should be different. That’s what makes it fun to do over and over again, because you don’t know what will end up happening, and frankly sometimes you don’t remember even after it happens. But, one thing that stays the same from night to night and semester to semester is the music.

Of course some frats have better taste in music than others, although music taste is entirely subjective. But, after much experience with nights of party hopping and unapologetically "shazaming" the songs I didn’t know, I have come to a consensus: some songs just have to be played every night. They’re like the chicken fingers of songs: everybody knows them, everybody loves them and everyone wants to hear them.

These songs are reliable. If you’re ever in charge of the music at a frat party or end up stealing the aux cord, like I have done, put on one of these songs and I promise extreme "litness." These songs are classic crowd pleasers, and you will definitely know most of the words even if you are blackout drunk. From hip-hop to rap, Latino, to EDM, alternative '90s to classic rock and a little bit of country, these songs are all so great for dancing, dropping low, twerking and just hitting up the dance floor with your sickest moves. If you’re ever stuck without a playlist at a party these should be your go to songs.

1. "Gold Digger" - Kanye West (ft. Jamie Foxx)

Classic Kanye. This is a must-play song at any and every party. We know all the words and we just want to sing along, so just play it already.

2. "Crazy in Love" - Beyoncé

All the ladies in the club will thank you for putting this song on, and the guys won't admit it, but they like it too. Classic Queen B, can't get any better than that.

3. "In Da Club" - 50 Cent

Go shawty, it's your birthday. You have to play this song, especially if it's your birthday.

4. "Hot in Herre" - Nelly

At one point in all frat parties, no matter how cold it is outside, it will be so hot in the room that you will actually want to take your clothes off. So take off all your clothes (but not actually)!

5. "Like a G6" - Far East Movement (ft. the Cataracs & Dev)

Feeling so damn fly. "TBT" to seventh grade, am I right?

6. "1, 2 Step" - Ciara (ft. Missy Elliot)

Everybody get on the floor, we about to get it on!

7. "SexyBack" - Justin Timberlake (ft. Timbland)

You have to bring sexy back every single night. Justin will always be our savior.

8. "Yeah!" - Usher (ft. Lil Jon & Ludacris)

Even the people who don't dance will dance to this song.

9. "Ignition" (Remix) - R. Kelly

This is the best song for singing along. Also if you happen to be in a hotel lobby it's very relevant.

10. "Pon de Replay" - Rihanna

Mr. DJ, Rihanna is asking nicely, so turn the music up!

11. "It Wasn’t Me" - Shaggy

Gotta get a lil reggae in there, ya feel man?

12. "Gasolina" - Daddy Yankee, Lil Jon, Noriega and Pitbull

This ones for all our spanish mamis and papis. Dáme más gasolina.

13. "Bailando" - Enrique Iglesias (ft. Sean Paul, Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona)

Even though I can get pretty sick of this song, I'll always dance to it. I mean, it literally tells you to dance.

14. "Danza Kuduro" - Don Omar and Lucenzo

Play this song, especially if you're on a Caribbean Island or it's a beach themed party or something.

15. "Hips Don’t Lie" - Shakira (ft. Wyclef Jean)

"Shakira, Shakira, she make a man wanna speak Spanish, si como se llama, sí bonita, si picasa," you get the point cause you're singing it in your head already.

16. "Calabria 2007" (Radio Edit) - Enur

You can't deny that saxophone beat; I dare you to not dance when this song comes on.

17. "Everytime We Touch" - Cascada

'Cause everytime this song plays, I get this feeling.

18. "Heaven" - DJ Sammy (ft. Yanou and Do)

This might be a little too old school, but it's still a fun techno jam remix of a classic.

19. "Stacy’s Mom" - Fountains of Wayne

Stacy's mom has got it going on, and you can totally air guitar the whole song.

20. "ABC" - Jackson 5

Everyone loves little Michael and the Jackson 5, so don't deny us the pleasure. It's as easy as one, two, three...

21. "All The Small Things" - Blink-182

Pretends to be rocker chic and sticks tongue out.

22. "Mr. Brightside" - The Killers

This is a must. Everyone knows and loves this song. Must play!

23. "Come on Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners

A song that should come on in between 1 - 2 a.m., when everyones just about to fall from the peak of their drunkenness.

24. "1985" - Bowling for Soup

Great song for jumping around!

25. "Jessie’s Girl" - Rick Springfield

Air guitar the whole song - it's magical.

26. "Semi-Charmed Life" - Third Eye Blind

This classic '90s alternative jam is good for the beginning of parties, when people are starting to roll in.

27. "All Star" - Smash Mouth

This song reminds people of "Shrek" and it's great. Plus, everyone sings along. Hey now, you're an all star, blah blah blah.

28. "Sweet Home Alabama" - Lynyrd Skynyrd

If you happen to be holding a beer, this song is for you.

29. "Wagon Wheel" - Darius Rucker

Just get in a circle, hug everyone and jump around all drunk and happy already.

30. "Temperature" - Sean Paul

I don't know where Sean Paul went, but he should make a come back, because we love that hip-hop reggae beat.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
