1.Texas High School Football isn't just a sport, it's a religion.
2.Laying hands and praying over the football team and coaches every Sunday wasn’t out of the norm.
3.If you didn’t bleed your school colors then you were considered a rival and we can’t have that.
4.Every Friday night the whole town would shut down to support the football team.
5.Being the homecoming queen was better than sliced bread.
6.The only thing better than being the homecoming queen was being the iconic town mascot.
7.Tradition wasn’t something to mess with.
8.Having one stop light in town.
9.Dreading going to the grocery store for milk, eggs and bread because it would turn into a social event.
10.The same kids you started Kindergarten with are the same kids you graduated high school with.
11.Your idea of fun was a bonfire since you did in fact like 45 minutes away from civilization.
12.The start of Two-A-Days is a holiday. Fathers took off work, former players and elders would gather and sit in the stands speculating on how the season would turn out.
13.Having a town square where all of the “big” events are held.
14.Getting a fast food restaurant was such a big deal that McDonald’s got a ribbon cutting.
15.Word travels fast, especially if you did something bad.
16.Being known as so and so’s little brother/sister due to their legacy that they left.
17.Being related to practically everyone in town.
18.Hunting was an acceptable reason to miss class
19.Being such an established family that the teacher that taught you more than likely taught your parents.
20.When you walk into a restaurant your waitress already knows what you want before you sit down.
21.After getting gas (and the food your parents told you not to get) telling the store owner to put it on your family’s tab that would be paid at the end of the month.
22.The donut shop that has every peewee, junior high and high school picture and news clipping of winning a game or tournament.
23.If you missed church on Sunday you know it better be for a darn good reason because everyone knew about it and someone would as you.
24.Pep rallies were a spectacle.
25.Whatever the head football coach said usually trumped the mayor.
26.Leaving your doors unlocked and letting your neighbors and friends come and go as they please.
27.Actually saying you’ve borrowed a cup of sugar or a few eggs from a neighbor
28.Having to go to other towns to date because you already dated all the prime candidates in town.
29.If something bad happened to your family, you wouldn’t be surprised if someone was bringing food over.
30.Always saying how you “were ready to get out of this place” but deep down knowing you’d miss it.
As much as you hated growing up in a small town, you know you love it.
