3 Steps to Your Perfect Spring Break

Spring break is a magical time when there is little to no parental supervision, with itsy bitsy clothing, drinking, and debauchery all around. I know I am counting the days down until I can sip fruity drinks beach or poolside while working on a killer tan. So here are three tips for getting ready for one of the best times of the year:

1. Pick a destination. You need to get on this one ASAP which is why it deserves the number one spot. Many places are booked months in advance and with only a few meager weeks left, many of the better hotels in ideal spring break destinations may be already booked. You can also try to find a friend that has a beach house and just crash there for the week of debauchery. If worst comes to worse, you can get a seedy hotel because I doubt you will spend much time in there anyways.

2. Packing list. You should also get on this task soon so you can take stock of what you already have and what things you will need to buy. For example, the following are things that you will need if you go to a tropical, typical Florida destination (the Keys or Panama City Beach).

Alcohol. Never can have enough. You have a whole week to basically drink non-stop, with very little rules. Plan accordingly.

Sunscreen, hats. Because skin cancer and looking like Larry the Lobster is never attractive.

Bathing suits and cover-ups. You have a week of going to the beach or pool every day. You probably don’t want to wear the same one over and over again for a whole week.

3. Get your spring break body ready. You do not want to be looking bloated and fat while on vacation. Think of all the cute photo opportunities! That being said, do not try to do anything drastic to lose weight. Do not starve yourself, because you will just be miserable and binge eat a whole pizza, or something, later. If you want to try doing a juice cleanse, all power to you! Just know that many of them cost around $100 a day and you do not eat, hence it is a liquid cleanse. If you are a guy, do not try to do anything super risky to get “cut” for spring break. For example, stay away from scary supplements and please do not try lifting more than you are capable. Do not start out trying to bench 150 pounds when you know 80 is your limit. It takes hard work and dedication to get to that point! The best way to get in the best shape for spring break is:

Drink lots of water.

Eat clean -- lots of veggies and lean protein.

Train mean. Work out! Try going to the gym every single day or even two times a day, if you are super dedicated. You should be doing a good mix of cardio with weightlifting or strength moves to get the most effective workout.

Remember -- teeny bathing suits, plus alcohol equals be careful. You don’t want your mom -- or a possible future employer -- to come across a photo of you flashing a security guy or end up on one of those spring breakers gone wild type of videos. Be smart.

It is unlawful to consume alcohol under the age limit and never drink and drive. Please drink responsibly.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
