While the idea of getting older quite frankly scares the mess out of most of us, a good place to start is by setting some goals. We’ll be lucky if we get our ish together enough and accomplish these in our lifetime, let alone by the time we’re 25, but a girl can dream. After all, the best goals are the ones that aren’t the easiest to achieve.
1. Be honest with how you feel and stand up for your feelings. You’re not a door mat so don’t act like one.
2. Learn and accept that while your friends opinions do matter — and hopefully have your best interest at heart — they aren’t the end all be all, and you know yourself better than they do.
3. Open a savings account and actually put money into it.
4. Be more direct in your relationships. If you want someone or something, go get it.
5. Learn to let go of your FOMO — it's okay to miss out some nights if you’ll feel better about yourself the next day. If you don’t want to go out, don’t. If you don’t want to go to the park because it's not your thing, don’t. If you don’t want to spend money on dinner because you’re trying to save, don’t go.
6. Be okay, and appreciate spending time by yourself.
7. Learn to finally appreciate your parents and that they truly do want what’s best for you.
8. Love yourself
9. Go out and do something that is usually outside of your comfort zone — you never know; you could actually like it.
10. Get tougher skin. Everyone’s feelings get hurt every once and a while, but learn to let things roll off your back and don’t let every little thing bother you.
11. Understand that we know you love your significant other, but time with your friends is very important. Don’t blow them off; everyone needs a good GNO every once and a while.
12. Learn to say no.
13. Kiss someone that is different from who you normally like and don’t worry about what other people will think.
14. Quality over quantity, every time.
15. Stop buying crappy alcohol. Your hangovers are only getting worse with time, and crappy alcohol isn’t going to help.
16. Continue drinking and going out if that’s what makes your happy. Work hard, play hard.
17. Let go of a friendship that isn’t benefitting either of you anymore. Unfortunately, not all friendships are meant to last forever. Don’t hold on to one out of obligation.
18. Save up your money and spend it on something you really want. May it be a crazy expensive item of clothing you’ve had your eye on or a trip you’ve really been wanting to take.
19. Learn to take care of your body. You wont be young forever and you’ll thank yourself for starting healthy habits now.
20. Stop joking about things you don’t like about yourself. There’s always going to be something we don;t like about ourselves, after all, we are our harshest critic. Instead of making a joke out of it, it’s much more productive to do something about it because no one is going to do it for us.
21. Stop procrastinating. At the end of the day, all it will do is make you more stressed out.
22. Know when to say sorry, and that most of the time its easier to just say it. You may believe and talk about how you’re right and they’re wrong until you’re blue in the face, but ask yourself if it's worth losing a friendship over. For the most part, just say your sorry, because it’s the first step to feeling better and sorting out an argument.
23. Encourage your friends. It's really important to encourage the people around you and let them know they can be honest with you without worrying you’re going to hurt their feelings. Our friends aren't always going to like the same things as us, but we should encourage them anyways. Especially if it's something that they really like.
24. Let go of your ex that you just can't seem to shake. You broke up for a reason and stand by it.
25. Accept that you’re going to change, and that it's okay. Stressing out about change will only drive you crazy. Look at it from the perspective of growing and bettering yourself.
