As much as I love to workout in the gym, I also enjoy outdoor activities and sports. And the summer is the best time to try a new outdoor sport or activity. Whether you enjoy long walks in the woods or beach volleyball, there will always be something new to try! As much fun as each sport/activity can be, it is important to know the safety concepts for each one. It is also important to know that not everyone will be as competitive or as laid back about the sport as you are.
Sadly, this will be my last blog post for the summer. As much as I enjoyed my blogging experience with Odyssey, I have to take a short break. With a new internship in the city and the never ending hunt for an LA internship, I must put my blogging on hold. I'm eager to continue Odyssey back in the Fall! So for now, check out below important things to know about each sport.
SOCCER
1. Passing to your teammates is the most important job you have
Just pass to someone in the same colored jersey and you'll be fine.
2. The goalie is the only one that can use their hands during the game
And they are the only one who can get away with cool tricks like this one.
3. Don't be that player who thinks they can win it all
You will not only look foolish, but you will also lose the ball quickly.
4. Even if the ref is wrong, it's not worth arguing with them
We all know that they didn't see it from your point of view, nor do they care to hear your point of view.
5. Run like crazy when the ref doesn't see you off sides

6. It will be obvious which team soccer fans will be cheering for

7. Know that for the players, coaches and fans, this is a very serious game
If you run into someone this passionate, don't take it personally.8. You rely on the quarterback to throw ridiculously far
So get ready to catch it.9. When a Hail Mary gets your team a touchdown, know that the fans will go crazy
Some will show their spirit more than others.
10. Team spirit and good sportsmanship makes the game more enjoyable
HIKING
11. When you get to the beginning of the trail, contain your enthusiasm
We know that you are excited, but pacing yourself is key.
12. Water is your best friend

13. Don't loose your best friend
Or else won't be a fun story to tell later.
14. Wearing the right attire and comfy hiking shoes will be crucial
You are about to hike up a mountain, not show off your newest OOTD.
15. No matter how badly you want to turn around, know the hike will be worth it
Also, take pictures for proof that you hiked this far up.
ARCHERY
16. Don't fool around if you really don't know what you're doing
Just ask for help.
17. Practice makes perfect
You probably won't hit the bullseye on your first try, but don't give up.
RAFTING
18. Know when it's time to stop paddling
Sometimes, it's best to simply enjoy the ride.
19. Hold on for dear life
And if you fall, thank yourself for wearing that life jacket.
20. Enjoy the water when its calm
And get your cameras ready.TENNIS
21. Grunting makes it seem like your putting more energy into the game
Plus it makes you look like you're trying.22. Don't get mad if your doubles partner isn't doing as well as you
At the end of the day, this is just for fun.
