We've earned it.

"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise." Good riddance 2016, you truly did the most. I think it's safe to say 2017 definitely owes us one.

1. The first two weeks in January

Hold on to them really tight. The last bit of sanity we have before four years of political roulette, but enough about politics, we'll focus on the positives starting now!

2. Beauty and the Beast

Our childhood favorite will be brought to life in March 2017 starring none other than the flawless Emma Watson. I'll be their guest, but probably pass on the grey stuff.

3. New Starbucks drinks

Check out the full list here, but they've promised three new drinks so far as well as the return of the Smoked Butterscotch Latte (aka Butterbeer).

4. Emerald City

Can't get enough of the Wizard of Oz? Emerald City premieres on NBC January 6, reimagining a childhood classic with darker tones for a more adult audience.

5. New Apple products

2017 forecasts new iPads complete with styluses and new screen sizes, as well as a new iMac, who hasn't seen an update in quite a while.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Marvel fans can expect a reboot of a classic superhero when Spider-Man: Homecoming premieres in July. Andrew Garfield passes the baton to the new Peter Parker: Tom Holland. The cast also features Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, and Zendaya, so there's no doubt this film is going to be a blockbuster. Oh, and did I mention Iron Man makes an appearance?

7. A Series of Unfortunate Events

2017 is a good year for Netflix. On Friday, January 13th another childhood classic is reimagined through the adaption of this Daniel Hadler classic starring Neil Patrick Harris. 2017 just seems to be a good year for nostalgia in general.

8. Nintendo Switch

Gamers, March 2017 is going to be a good month for you. Nintendo is unveiling it's new gaming console that works on televisions and doubles as a portable system. Try to hold onto that excitement when the prices are announced on January 17.

9. Fifty Shades Darker

Well, someone has got to be excited for this, right?

10. iPhone 8

Rumored to have an all-glass design with no home button, the iPhone 8 is a major refresh for the company. 2017 is also the iPhone's 10th birthday, so expect the company to go all out in celebration.

11. The Bee Movie is coming to Netflix

It's being added January 1, for those who can't leave 2016 memes in 2016...

12. Amelie on Broadway

A musical adaptation of a favorite quirky film starring Hamilton's Phillipa Soo. The show opens April 3!

13. Sunscreen Pills

That's right. Ditch the lotion and take a pill before hitting the beach this summer, as these are expected to become available just in time for swimsuit season. The pills are said to reduce sun-damage risk by 84 percent, simply by eliminating the hassle of reapplying sunscreen (which we don't do nearly as often as we should).

14. Toy Story 4

2017 is back at it with the nostalgia factor. Even though Toy Story 3 wrapped up the ending pretty nicely, I'm curious as to what our favorite cowboy and space ranger will get up to next.

15. The Superbowl

By this I mean the halftime show of course. I'll never be the same after watching Lady Gaga steal the show. If there's anyone to follow up Beyonce, it's our very own Joanne.

16. Stranger Things season 2

Our favorite 80's gang returns this summer to fight off more demagorgons and communicate through lights, probably? I really don't know the plot guys.

17. Christmas 2017

There's always Christmas to look forward to!

It seems that most of these were movies and television shows, it's so we can distract ourselves from reality. I mean--what? I'm not talking about politics! I'm not at all worried and everything is fine!! Happy New Year!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
